Women helping women—it’s the driving force behind Women for UMass (WFUM). Women have long been at the center of the university’s history and success.

Women for UMass empowers all UMass Amherst women to achieve their personal, professional, and academic success through learning, leadership, and the strength of our community. A diverse volunteer network, WFUM members leverage their UMass connections to advance our flagship campus and important causes affecting women around the world. Our Mission

And WFUM works hard to make sure all women are supported, no matter what life stage or where they are in their educational journey. WFUM aims to engage the 162,000+ alumnae and students around the world with UMass Amherst and with each other through a variety of programming and philanthropic efforts that highlight women at the center of the university’s historic development and the fulfillment of its mission. By providing access, support, and opportunities to grow through female-centric programs and resources, WFUM fosters the positive impact of women supporting women and nurtures the talent of the next generation of female leaders at UMass. All cis and trans women, as well as nonbinary people who are comfortable in women-centered spaces, and others interested in advancing opportunities for women are welcome. The Women for UMass Amherst Fund supports WFUM Grants program:

The WFUM Grants program promotes the advancement of campus initiatives focused on access, support, and opportunity for students, especially those that positively impact women and their respective communities.

Planning to be in Amherst for Homecoming? Come by and see us!

Women for UMass will be stationed at the Cheer & B**r Garden Affinity Tent from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 10 leading up to the football game versus Miami (OH).

We will be there to answer any questions you have about what's new and happening with WFUM, how you can get involved, hear any ideas you have for women's alumni programming, and more!

BONUS: if you are a current WFUM volunteer, be sure to come by to get a gift from us (hint: we have new WFUM swag to show you).

Applications are OPEN NOW for our Grants Program. which supports student-led projects that strengthen campus life at UMass Amherst, This application cycle will support projects/programs/events that occur between January 1-June 30, 2027.

Examples of Funded Projects:

- Held student focused events with internationally known speakers
- Led workshops and conferences to promote professional development and develop industry connections
- Traveled to corporations for professional visits to learn about an industry and build professional connections
- Hosted industry experts for classroom lectures and portfolio reviews
- Provided access to training and activities not possible without additional financial support

It's almost the start of a NEW year and we'd love to have NEW volunteers join Women for UMass!

For the 2026-27 academic year, there are 3 distinct ways you can get involved as a volunteer with us, some new or modified from previous years!

If you know you're ready to get involved, fill out our volunteer interest form and select the first option (network steering committee), and then Women for UMass. Want to get involved with other volunteer roles? You can also express your interests on the same form. We look forward to a great year!

Thanks to the generous support of many UMass Amherst alumni, donors, and friends, we were able to empower 12 UMass Amherst student groups to pursue meaningful projects across UMass Amherst during the 2025-26 academic year! These student- and community-centered initiatives expand opportunity, foster connection, and strengthen campus life.

We encourage you to learn about these grant projects and about the impact supporting WFUM can have on current students - and beyond.

We had a great event at last night filled with discovery behind secret doors and exhibit rooms, and personally though reflection, discussion, and connection. Thank you to all who came to celebrate our alumnae community in DC! We hope to see you at the next one 🌟

Discover the over 80 secret doors, themed rooms, and hands on exhibits before doing some self exploration and connecting with other local UMass grads.

Women for UMass invites you to Empowering Connections - an evening of personal reflection, conversations, and exploration! Discover the over 80 secret doors, themed rooms, and hands on exhibits before doing some self exploration and connecting with other local UMass grads.

You do not need to be a member of Women for UMass to join this great event.
