On National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we take time to remember, reflect, listen, and recognize the lasting effects of these systems on Indigenous peoples and communities.

Every Child Matters. 🧡

Join us in welcoming our newest Instructional Designer, Cari Brooks! Cari holds a PhD in Learning Sciences from Clemson University and joins us from Pacific University in Oregon, where she served as an assistant professor and led the undergraduate peer tutoring program. Her areas of study include college access and equity, college student success, and learning strategies.

When she’s not working, you can find Cari visiting one of her three kids, who might be playing jazz in a basement club in Greenwich Village, educating conservation lobbyists on energy policy in South Carolina, or telling guests to “move to the dead center of the room” at the Haunted Mansion in Walt Disney World.

CAFE Focus Power Hour is back this year! Stasia Straley, Professor of Accounting, hosts these productivity sessions Tuesdays (10 - 11 a.m.) and Thursdays (10 - 11 a.m. and 4 - 5 p.m.) on Zoom every week this semester. This can be a great way for you to carve out time in your week to get your tasks done, whether it's grading, submitting a funding application, or getting your emails/admin work out of the way. Email [email protected] to receive a calendar invite with the Zoom link.

For each session, we start with sharing a productivity tip. Everyone will share in chat what they plan to accomplish, then we work with our cameras on (optional) and microphones off for 55 solid minutes. At the end of our time, you’ll put in chat what you’ve accomplished.
