A Trophy Pike in Lake Clark!

After hearing about the Trophy Fish Program from her friend, Kaci headed to Lake Clark for a day of fishing. The weather was overcast, but she said the scenery was stunning, and loons were singing.

For the pike, she was using a realistic frog fly recommended by her guide. When the fish took the fly, she had no idea just how big it was until it suddenly jumped out of the water a few minutes into the fight.

The timing couldn't have been better. Friends fishing in another boat happened to come by and witnessed almost the entire battle, cheering her on as she worked to bring the fish in.

“It was my most epic fight with a fish to date.”

Her advice to other anglers? Consider fishing with a guide in Lake Clark, and sometimes, a little luck goes a long way.

Stream Slam Spotlight!

Emily heard about the Stream Slam through her dad, and decided to give it a try while fishing a tributary off the Skwentna River.

She was fishing with topwater dry flies on a gorgeous day, and was able to land all three fish. She hadn’t gone grayling or Dolly fishing in a couple of years, making the trip even more special, with the rainbow being the cherry on top!

And the fishing advice that stuck with her from her dad? “Don’t leave fish to find fish!”

Thanks for sharing your catch, Emily!

Steve Smith was fishing in a remote part of Alaska west of Cook Inlet when he found exactly what every fly angler hopes for: calm water and rising fish!

Fishing a 3-weight fly rod with a size 18–20 Griffith’s Gnat, Steve landed about seven grayling that morning. His first Alaska grayling was also a personal best, and only his third grayling ever.

His advice for other anglers? Find a great, fishy outfitter and when you see rising grayling, don’t miss the opportunity to cast to them!

Have you caught an Alaska fish that stands out from the rest? Enter it in the Trophy Fish Program and share your catch with us.

Owen and Georgia were fishing in the Lake Clark National Park area when they landed their first-ever Arctic grayling at the same time, PLUS both were big enough to receive trophy recognition!

They heard about Alaska’s Trophy Fish Program from their guides at All Alaska Outdoors during their stay. While fly fishing with topwater flies, they managed to get both fish to the surface.

Their advice? Stay patient, approach rising fish carefully, and try not to spook them. Owen said, "treat it a little like stalking bonefish on a flat".

Want to show off your own memorable catch? Enter it in Alaska’s Trophy Fish Program! You could earn recognition for an impressive fish and become part of Alaska’s fishing history.
