Alumni Spotlight: Dr. Tatiana Laitano, DNP, MBA, RN

We were so honored to have Dr. Laitano, a 2023 graduate of our Accelerated BSN program, speak at our induction ceremony. She inspired everyone in the room!

Her path to nursing is a unique one. Tatiana trained as a physician in her home country of Honduras, then moved to Indiana and worked as a clinical researcher at the IU School of Medicine. After earning her MBA from IU’s Kelley School of Business, she chose to start a new career in nursing right here at AU.

In just three years, she has gone from oncology bedside nurse to Oncology Operations Manager at Hancock Health, where she also leads the organization’s partnership with the Mayo Clinic Care Network. She recently earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice in Executive Leadership from IU, serves as an adjunct graduate nursing faculty member, and is a 2026 AARP Indiana Legislative Fellow and a passionate bilingual advocate for underserved communities.

Our nursing students spent part of Homecoming doing blood pressure checks, and it was great to see so many Ravens, alumni, and families stop by. Thank you to everyone who came out and gave our students some hands-on practice. We love having you back on campus!

On Friday, we welcomed our incoming sophomores into the AU School of Nursing at our induction ceremony. It was a very special moment, including the blessing of the hands, a time to pause and honor the hands that will one day care for patients.

Congratulations, sophomores! We’re so proud of you and can’t wait to watch you grow.

Our fall coffee bar was a hit last week, and the Apple Slider Slushies were the star of the show! 🍎 Thank you to everyone who stopped by to grab a cup and catch up.

We also had a special surprise visit from AUSON alumni, Amelia! It's always a treat to have familiar faces back on campus! 💙

🙏 Blessing of the Hands 🙏

This week we gathered to pray over our nursing students in our Blessing of the Hands ceremony. It's one of our favorite traditions here at AU School of Nursing.

These hands will hold the hands of scared patients, comfort families on hard days, give medications, check vitals, and offer care to people at some of the most vulnerable moments of their lives. What a privilege it was to pause, lift them up in prayer, and ask God to guide and strengthen them for the calling ahead.

Students, we are so proud of you, and we can't wait to see how you'll serve others with skill, compassion, and faith. 💙🧡

A huge thank you to Ascension St. Vincent StatFlight Indianapolis today! Our students loved the opportunity to learn more about flight nursing, ask questions, and get an up-close look at the incredible work you do.

Experiences like this remind our future nurses just how many paths are possible in this profession — thank you for inspiring the next generation of Ravens!

StatFlight 3 had the pleasure of visiting the nursing students at Anderson University! Although the weather kept us from flying in, we were still able to make the trip to their nursing school and spend time connecting with these future nurses.

We enjoyed sharing our experiences in air medical transport, discussing flight medicine, and giving students a glimpse into what we do. I think we have some future flight nurses in the making!
