We hosted our first ever wheelchair rugby clinic this past weekend Saline Community Education Middle School. The clinic was led by Wheelchair Rugby World Champion, Team USA co-captain, and Michigan Wheelchair Rugby Head Coach, Chuck Aoki.

It was a great day filled with theory, positioning, spacing, picking, strategy, and game play for new and developing athletes in the sport. We welcomed athletes from across the country and are thrilled to see the energy from these emerging athletes.

Stay tuned for the next one!

With the 5k just 12 days away, we're making a final push for registration. Please share, we'd greatly appreciate it! This is the registration link -https://runsignup.com/Race/MI/Dexter/Unified5KDexter.

The Unified 5k is an inclusive 5k and 1 mile race at Hudson Mills in Dexter, MI on a flat, fast, and fully-paved course. The event raises money for the AdaptX adaptive equipment grant program that in the last year has donated running prosthetics, sports wheelchairs, and racing chairs to Michigan athletes. Register today at https://runsignup.com/Race/MI/Dexter/Unified5KDexter. Come out to Hudson Mills, connect with our line-up of vendors and celebrate inclusion in endurance sports.

Last week we worked with Move United Sport to host the first "Michigan Adaptive Sports Collaboration Summit".

Whether you were able to join us in person or were unable to attend, we appreciate your commitment to advancing adaptive, inclusive, unified, and para sport opportunities across Michigan. The Summit was intentionally designed as the beginning of a larger statewide conversation. By bringing together organizations from education, healthcare, parks and recreation, nonprofit organizations, governing bodies, community programs, and other sectors, our goal was to start building stronger relationships, identify shared challenges and opportunities, and begin developing a more connected adaptive sport ecosystem throughout Michigan.

The ideas generated during these discussions will help shape future collaboration efforts, but this is only the first step. We want to ensure that voices from across the state, including those who could not attend, are reflected as we determine priorities and next steps.

To help us continue this work, we invite you to complete the following survey: https://forms.gle/o9EvaHs3Vgi3mX1z9

The survey includes opportunities to:
- Share additional thoughts from the activities
- Provide feedback on priorities for Michigan's adaptive sport community
- Identify collaboration opportunities and resources your organization can contribute
- Express interest in participating in future meetings and working groups

We anticipate sharing a summary of the summit findings, common themes, and proposed next steps with participants in the coming weeks. Our hope is to establish an ongoing statewide network that continues to strengthen communication, collaboration, and access to adaptive sport opportunities for individuals with disabilities throughout Michigan.

Thank you for your participation and your commitment to growing adaptive sports across our state. We look forward to continuing this work together!
