Don't miss it! VR Premiere at the Ann Arbor Film Festival!!!
Joseph Sywenky’s VR project, "Is the War Close?", will be viewable in VR headsets at the Michigan Theater as part of the Off Screen section of the Ann Arbor Film Festival:

Saturday, March 28: 11:00 AM–3:00 PM
Sunday, March 29: 12:00 PM–4:00 PM

"Is the War Close?" is an immersive, room-scale virtual reality documentary experience that places you inside a Ukrainian home at night during a large Russian drone and missile attack. Built with gaming technology and spatial audio, the experience allows you to move freely in six degrees of freedom, as if you’re truly there. Based on real-life events. Running time: ~10 minutes.
Joseph Sywenky began this project during his dual Knight-Wallace Fellowship and WCEE Distinguished Fellowship at the University of Michigan and has continued it as the Howard R. Marsh Visiting Professor of Journalism, alongside a small and incredible team of U-M professors and graduate students.
