Latin America’s history of resisting authoritarianism and advancing democracy offers vital lessons for today, as most countries in the region have transitioned from brutal repression to vibrant democratic life—some ranking higher than nations in the Global North (Freedom House, 2025). Join the Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies, the Donia Human Rights Center, and the Center for Emerging Democracies for a 2025–2026 event series featuring experiences from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Cuba, and Ecuador."
