University of Michigan Youth and Social Issues Program (YSI) The Youth and Social Issues program is home to world-renowned social research surveys at the University of Michigan's Institute for Social Research.

The Youth and Social Issues program houses several innovative social science research surveys, beginning with the Youth in Transition Study in 1965, the Monitoring the Future survey since 1975, and the Youth, Education, & Society project since 1997. YSI is also a pioneer in several survey areas that include obesity in youth, effects of the built environment, intensive measurement of drug use in th

e transition to adulthood, high-risk behaviors and health, and the impact of physical activity on cognitive functions in older adults. We welcome your opinions, and encourage open discussion about the topics we post.
