“Having a degree from the University of Michigan can open up so many doors that you will never have imagined those. It’s ultimately priceless.”

Francisco Arvizu-Mancilla was a student at Grand Rapids Community College when he learned about the Go Blue Guarantee. It seemed too good to be true. There was no way it could apply to him—or was there?

Today, Arvizu-Mancilla is a transfer student who is nearing graduation with a bachelor’s degree in political science and international studies from the College of LSA. He plans to then study for the LSAT and go to law school. Read more: https://myumi.ch/2jgZ6

Created to honor the memory of Spartan Alex Powell, Alex’s Great State Race featured ROTC cadets from both U-M and Michigan State University running the 64 miles between Ann Arbor and East Lansing to deliver the game ball ahead of the annual football rivalry.

This year, the tradition is evolving into “What’s Your 64?” — a communitywide challenge inviting participants to choose their own activity involving the number 64, while raising awareness of disability inclusion and accessibility. Choose your 64, complete it and pass it on!

“It’s been so rewarding to mentor other students and to be that first face that people see when they’re either doing a prospective visit or a transfer student day. My favorite thing about this school is that there are so many new people to meet. So many new experiences to have.”

On the day LSA spoke with Sky Evans, she had already been in three meetings and two classes. When the call ended, she was off to another meeting, a research presentation, and then a shift at work before she turned in for the night.

It’s a lot to handle for any college senior, but Evans takes it all in stride as a part of her university experience. https://myumi.ch/VD1kx
