University of Michigan Center for Southeast Asian Studies Founded In 1961, the Center for Southeast Asian Studies (CSEAS) at the International Institute is one of the oldest centers in the U.S.

One of the largest programs devoted to this region in the United States, the University of Michigan Center for Southeast Asian Studies seeks to promote a broader and deeper understanding of Southeast Asia, its people, and their cultures. devoted to the Southeast Asian region. CSEAS seeks to promote a broader and deeper understanding of Southeast Asia, its people, histories, practices, and languages. The center is committed to creating a supportive environment where scholars, educators, students and community members have the opportunity to engage in dialogue related to Southeast Asia. As a formerly designated National Resource Center by the U.S. Department of Education (1961-2022), CSEAS continues to support the teaching on several Southeast Asian languages designated as areas of national need, and are of increasing importance in today's work force.

We are happy to announce a call for papers for the next issue of the Asia in Focus journal—published by the Centre for East and South-East Asian Studies, Lund University—with a planned publication date in early summer 2027.

Asia in Focus is an open access journal for early-career academics writing in fields within the Social sciences and Humanities (excluding linguistics and languages). We accept original manuscripts from authors affiliated with or recently affiliated with a university within the Nordic region.

The film is 62 minutes, in Arabic with English subtitles. After the screening, we’ll also show a short, pre-recorded Q&A with filmmaker Ayman Tamano.

Film description: Madayen is an indie found-footage-style film from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, written and produced by Hakeem Jomah and directed by Ayman Tamano, that tells the tale of three young Saudis who set out to the notoriously haunted Madayen Saleh ruins in the far north of the Kingdom to investigate the myths and the truths behind the cursed place.

Halaloween Horror Rating: 1/5. Not very scary, and not much religious content. Road trip buddy movie meets found footage horror.

And, as always, Halaloween is for everyone — from horror fans who love the gore to those who spend half the movie hiding their eyes.
