The Lawrence University Symphonic Band gave an incredible concert earlier this term, with works by Prokofiev, Biedenbender, Bassi, Grainger, and Ito. They were joined on stage by Dr. Andy Hudson with an exceptional performance of Bassi's Concert Fantasia on Motives from Verdi’s Opera “Rigoletto.”

🎻 Congratulations to violinist Ben Frueh ’27, who received the prestigious Fritz Ge**er Award 2026. Presented as part of the Lucerne Festival Academy, the award was founded in 2015 to support and honor three young musicians each year in the field of contemporary classical music. Each winner receives a cash prize of CHF10,000, as well as funded participation in the 2026 Lucerne Festival Academy, valued at an additional CHF10,000.

Founded in 2004 by Pierre Boulez, the Lucerne Festival Academy, an elite “training orchestra” for aspiring professional musicians under the age of 28, is an offshoot of the internationally acclaimed Lucerne Festival.
