Engineering students had the privilege of helping 4th and 5th grade students at Central Arkansas Christian School as the students constructed and built devices to move a paperclip 7ft to a target. What creative kids we worked with! Thank you CACS!

It's been a busy few weeks in the department! Last week Mr. Chris Hardman and his crew from Engineering Design Services LLC showed us how they use LIDAR to model existing structures and aide in designing. This week, Mr. Earl Mott from Garver spoke to our students about Garver and opportunities for engineers. Thank you all for investing in our students!

It also occurred to me to mention phase 2 of the shop space renovation was completed. Next summer, after July 1, the plan is to complete phase 3, which is the hallway, bathrooms, and back 3 rooms. That will complete the building transformation.

It has been a very, very busy year in the physics and engineering department, so I appologize for the sparce updates. I do want to let everyone know that we recently passed one milestone on our way toward ABET accreditation. Our recently submitted readiness review was approved and ABET recommended we proceed with the submission of our self-study (due July 1) and to have the program evaluated for accreditation in the fall. We are very excited by the news, but know that we have a busy 2025 before us. It is a blessing that we have a mechanical engineer joining our team this january, Mike Pannell.

I would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and thank you for your prayers and support. - KRC
