Meet Alexandra Wanack, Accounting/Business Services Intern at Mavs EDGE partner TLT – Tomorrow’s Leaders Today. Alexandra is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Accounting at UTA’s College of Business and will be graduating in 2028.

During her internship, Alexandra worked collaboratively with team members on a variety of accounting and business-related projects. Her responsibilities included supporting work involving general ledgers, budget narratives, financial research, and auditing activities while gaining hands-on experience in a professional environment.

Through the internship, Alexandra strengthened her understanding of accounting principles and gained valuable experience applying classroom knowledge to real-world business projects. She also developed skills in virtual collaboration, teamwork, organization, and project coordination while working alongside peers on shared assignments.

Reflecting on her experience, Alexandra shared, “This internship provided valuable real-world experience related to my career goals and helped me better understand how accounting and business operations function in a professional setting.”

Looking ahead, Alexandra plans to continue building her accounting expertise and leveraging the knowledge gained through her internship as she prepares for a career in the accounting profession.

Meet Sophia Phan, an Embark Scholar Intern at KPMG LLP. Sophia is pursuing her Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Information Systems at UTA’s College of Business and is expected to graduate in 2027.

During her internship, Sophia gained exposure to various areas of public accounting, including audit, tax, and advisory services. As an Embark Scholar Intern, she supported professionals across multiple service lines, participated in training and professional development opportunities, assisted with research and data analysis, and collaborated with team members on various projects. Through these experiences, she strengthened both her technical and professional skills while gaining insight into the public accounting industry.

The internship provided Sophia with valuable exposure to the day-to-day work of accounting professionals and reinforced her interest in pursuing a career in the field. She embraced opportunities to learn from experienced professionals, apply classroom concepts, and deepen her understanding of client service and professional collaboration.

Reflecting on her experience, Sophia shared, “This internship helped me better understand the public accounting profession and strengthened my interest in pursuing a CPA. It provided valuable insight into different career paths within accounting and helped me develop skills that will support my future success.”

Looking ahead, Sophia plans to continue building her expertise in accounting and information systems while pursuing her goal of becoming a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). She hopes to leverage the knowledge and experience gained through her internship as she explores future opportunities in audit, tax, or advisory services.
