Members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® Zeta Chi Omega Chapter gathered at Mount Olive Baptist Church in Arlington, Virginia, to give thanks for 70 years of sisterhood, service, and impact in our community.

We are grateful for the vision of those who came before us, the bonds that unite us today, and the opportunity to continue serving for generations to come.

💖💚 Celebrating 70 Years of Service and Sisterhood 💚💖

Today, we proudly honor the 70th Anniversary of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® Zeta Chi Omega Chapter.

Our story began with the vision and determination of Evelyn Reid Syphax, an Arlington, Virginia, resident and member of Xi Omega Chapter in the District of Columbia. Recognizing a need for the impactful programs and service initiatives of Alpha Kappa Alpha in Northern Virginia, she spearheaded the formation of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Women of Northern Virginia interest group.

Through her leadership and the commitment of twenty-one dedicated women, permission was granted to establish a new chapter, and on May 25, 1956, Zeta Chi Omega was officially chartered.

As we celebrate seven decades of service, leadership, and sisterhood, we honor our founders' vision and recommit ourselves to serving the Arlington community and beyond.

Here's to 70 years of excellence and the generations of women who continue to carry the legacy forward!

We deeply remember the brave men, women, and especially our courageous AKA Sisters who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our freedom. Today, we reflect on their profound dedication, and commit to upholding the values of unity and service they so proudly fought for.
