Exercise Science at UTA is built on evidence‑based practice, human connection, and service, and alum Liberty Hayes embodies all three!

Liberty is using ASL and her exercise science background to bridge communication gaps in physical therapy and advocate for Deaf and hard‑of‑hearing patients who deserve care without barriers.

A powerful example of what Maverick excellence looks like and the kind of impact our graduates make across North Texas!

Eye black isn’t just about looking game‑ready — it’s a blend of glare reduction, tradition, and the performance routines athletes rely on. Great insight from UTA Kinesiology's own Adam Annaccone on how small details can shape confidence and play under pressure.

Why do baseball players wear eye black?

According to UTA kinesiology expert Adam Annaccone, the answer is more than just reducing glare. While eye black may help athletes see the ball more clearly in bright conditions, it has also become part of the routines and rituals that help players feel focused and confident before the game.

Two huge wins for UTA Kinesiology!
Our students continue to raise the bar:

✨ Chandler Browning has been awarded the Stan Bates Scholarship — a WAC conference‑wide honor recognizing elite academic and athletic excellence. Chandler graduated Summa Cum Laude (4.0 GPA) in the Spring of 2026 and plans to use the Stan Bates Scholarship to pursue a career in nursing!

Clinical Associate Professor of Kinesiology, Adam Annacone had this to say:
"Jackson and Chandler represent the very best of what we hope to see in UTA student-athletes. Their success reflects excellence in competition, commitment in the classroom, and the leadership and character that connect athletics to the broader academic mission of the university...This is a tremendous honor for them, their teams, and our university."

🔥 Exercise Science student Jaalah Puryear has been named Maverick Club Student Athlete of the Year. Jaalah delivered a historic season, setting a school record in the indoor weight throw and outdoor hammer throw, earning All‑Conference honors in both indoor and outdoor track & field, and becoming the UTA record holder in the hammer throw. She capped her year with a second‑place finish at the 2026 WAC Outdoor Championships, representing UTA with power, consistency, and leadership.

These accomplishments reflect the dedication our Exercise Science students bring to both their studies and their sport, and we couldn't be more proud!
