🎓✨ Celebrating 10 Years of Partnership, Access & Opportunity!

The interim President of Anne Arundel Community College (AACC) and our 2026–27 POSCH Scholars welcomed principals and counselors from Anne Arundel County Public Schools (AACPS) as we celebrated an incredible milestone—10 years of the POSCH program! 🎉

Over the past decade, the partnership between AACC and AACPS has helped 73 graduating AACPS seniors continue their educational journeys at AACC as POSCH Scholars. Each scholar represents the power of partnership, opportunity, and a shared commitment to student success. 💙🎓

As we celebrate the impact of the first 10 cohorts, we’re also looking ahead! Our AACPS partners are preparing to identify and nominate students for the 11th POSCH cohort, continuing a legacy that opens doors and creates pathways to higher education.

SASP is proud to support our POSCH Scholars and to be part of a partnership that continues to invest in the success of our students and community.

Here’s to 10 years of impact—and many more to come! 🎉👏🏾

🎉🪅 Creativity, Culture & Community!🪅🎉

We had an amazing time at our Cultural Traditions: A Creative Celebration & DIY Piñata Workshop in recognition of Hispanic Heritage Month! 🌎❤️

Guests had the opportunity to create their very own piñatas from scratch and take their creations home, all while enjoying a variety of Hispanic candies, receiving FREE Hispanic Heritage Month T-shirts, and walking away with plenty of fun giveaways! 🍬👕🎁

More than just a craft, this event created a space to celebrate culture, learn through creativity, connect with one another, and experience a tradition that holds special meaning across many Latin American communities.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by, got creative, and helped make this celebration such a great experience! Seeing all of the different piñata designs come to life was definitely a highlight. 🪅✨

What a great kick off to Hispanic Heritage month, last week with Chef Santos demonstration on a twist to tres leches cake. This piña colada flavored was inspired by a family recipe for one of the students. Amazing to see the work happening in the kitchen and the influence our students bring.

🎓✨ Sankofa Send-Off Celebration 2026 ✨🎓

Last Wednesday, May 6, the Black Male Institute (BMI) proudly hosted our annual Sankofa Send-Off Celebration, a powerful evening rooted in reflection, recognition, and community.

With over 45 attendees in person and additional guests joining virtually, we were honored to celebrate our students alongside AACC leadership, including President Dr. Dawn Lindsay, members of the Board of Trustees, faculty, staff, family, and community supporters.

This special tradition recognizes our students as they take the next step in their journey—whether graduating, transferring, joining the armed services, or pursuing new opportunities. Grounded in the meaning of *Sankofa*—to look back and move forward—we honored not just where they’re going, but the strength, growth, and resilience that brought them here.

A highlight of the evening included the presentation of Kente stoles, symbolizing legacy, achievement, and the continuation of each student’s story as they were inducted into the BMI Alumni Network. Students received a certificate and gift bag as a token of appreciation.

We also took time to honor Dr. Lindsay for her exceptional leadership and lasting impact on AACC as she prepares for retirement—an especially meaningful moment for our community.

💙 Once BMI, always BMI.
Congratulations to our brothers—keep rising, keep reaching back, and keep moving forward.
