Who says community college students don’t do research?

Recently, our students showcased their work at the American Society for Microbiology (ASM) Maryland Branch Poster Session and ASM Microbe 2026. Others launched or continued projects through the Research-Intensive Summer Experience (RISE).

RISE projects included evaluating the CALT building through the lens of the LEED for Building Operations and Maintenance standards; exploring how air resistance affects projectile motion to improve introductory physics labs; collecting soil and water samples to study local microbial life; and measuring air and surface temperatures to analyze heat island effects at AACC.

🚧 There is a lot of construction going on around campus this summer! We're excited for all the updates coming and appreciate your patience while we work. Pay attention to signs and give yourself extra time to arrive and park. (Enjoy this sneak peek into the Florestano Building.)

Florestano Building
Construction of floors 1-3 is ongoing to create a One-Stop Student Services Center to help new students and anyone seeking help from enrollment or student services find comprehensive support. It is expected to be open and operational by spring 2027.

Center for Applied Learning and Technology (CALT)
From early June to July, the first and second floors on the east side of the CALT building will be closed while the roof HVAC unit is replaced. Noncredit registration will be relocated to the first floor of the Student Services Center until June 27.

Careers Center
Replacement of the Careers Center roof will continue until mid-August. During construction, several areas on the east side of the building will be closed and fenced.

West Campus Drive
In mid-June, the Facilities Planning & Construction office will begin the process of re-paving West Campus Drive. This project is expected to be completed in early July. During this project, there will be adjusted traffic patterns in the area.

Dragun Building
Renovations of the Dragun Building are ongoing. Construction is anticipated to be completed in late August 2027. We plan to open the newly renovated Dragun Building in January 2028.

AACC at Arundel Mills
Replacement of two of the four HVAC units on the roof of the AMIL building is expected to continue until mid-July. Classes and offices on the affected floors will be relocated while this work is in progress.
