Congrats Andi Espenshade (‘14) on your new position! We’re so excited for you and the LGBT Center of Raleigh.

Feature Friday!

Please give a warm welcome to our NEW Director of Development, Andi (he/they)!

Andi is beyond thrilled to be starting as the Director of Development for the LGBT Center of Raleigh! Having grown up in the Triangle, they lived in Asheville for several years before moving out to Oregon for their Master of Nonprofit Management, and now joins our team after fundraising for Seattle's Planned Parenthood affiliate for the past two years.

Andi is excited to be able to support the LGBTQ+ community in this role after finding their way to fundraising through their drag persona, Chartreuse Dynasty O'Hara. Working with the wonderfully diverse community of Raleigh will be a fantastic opportunity to work with every facet of the LGBTQ+ community, put their fundraising experience to work, and bring a decade's worth of drag and fabulousness to the LGBT Center's fundraising efforts.

When not in the office (or heels), they enjoy spending time with their husband: streaming the latest true crime series, hiking along nature walks, taking care of their two cats, Solomon and Purrsephone, and playing hours and hours and hours of Animal Crossing.

When they're in the office, please feel free to reach out to them with any fundraising / donation questions you may have at [email protected]!

Now, let's hear about Julie!
Julie Neumark is a graduating senior with a major in environmental studies and a concentration in environmental education. Besides her passion for connecting people (especially children) to nature and environmental issues, she is also a lover of music, dance, drama, painting, writing, and all other art forms! She acted in several plays in high school including High School Musical, A Christmas Carol, and Murder by the Book, but has not had the opportunity to be in one since then. She has been a dancer since she was about 7 years old, and would like to thank Mitzi Davis and everyone else at Dance With Mitzi for instilling in her a lifelong love of dancing! She would also like to thank the cast and crew of Hindsight 2020 for giving her the opportunity to dance in this awesome production with so many talented people.

Hindsight 2020 shout out for today will be Lindsey Wheeler! Our performances of "Hindsight 2020..." will be March 5th and 6th at 7pm! Use the link in our bio to get your tickets now! Here's some info about Lindsey!
My name is Lindsay Wheeler, I use she/her pronouns. I am an 18 year old freshman drama major. I am an actor and writer in our project. I am really excited to work on this project because it is unlike anything I have ever worked on before. Being a part of something so collaborative with no set script or blocking and being able to work with such talented people from all different art forms is really wonderful. I have always loved to act and I’ve been acting and singing for years, it is my favorite hobby along with yoga, coloring, and spending time with friends.

For Hindsight 2020, we'll have a shout out for each cast member on our pages! Our first cast member shout out is Zoe Newton!

Zoe Newton is a 20 year old sophomore pursuing a degree in Creative Writing and is excited to share her voice as a young Black writer. With a passion for people, history, sports, and film she uses her love of writing to showcase content she believes is necessary to make sense of an ever changing political and cultural landscape. After organizing a high school project to begin dialogue about political perspectives, Zoe found a passion for finding connections between people and starting intentional conversations to combat willful ignorance around such issues as White supremacy and Afrocentric perspectives. Zoe resides in Charlotte, NC and enjoys listening to her R&B/Rap playlists, skateboarding and rambling about sports hot takes to her cat Stripes.

UNC Asheville Arts & Ideas Program

Did you miss last week's radio drama podcast production of Antigone put on by The Department of Drama at UNC Asheville? Luckily, you've got one more shot to listen to it at a listening party event on Monday, November 2 at 7 PM.

Here's how you can participate:
Register at this link: https://unca-edu.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_T1SUnJ-cSQWg_LzJS7WgWw

Tune in at 7 PM to listen together, and then after the show there will be a group discussion about the project and the themes of the play.

As a special bonus, if you are a student or UNC Asheville campus community member, you can pick up a to-go snack box of Greek food between 5-6 PM on Monday in the Whitesides Forum (room WHI 136) to munch on while you listen to the show. These are limited and first-come-first-serve.
