2025 was a year of growth, friendships, and discovery! 🌏💛🐝🖤 Exchange student Gyuri Kim embraced every moment during her fall semester at RMC, making memories that will last a lifetime. Here’s to celebrating all our international students’ journeys with us! ✨

“RMC is a small but warm-hearted school. Its greatest strength lies in its people including the professors, students, and the staff at the Office of International Education. The OIE coordinators and exchange buddies organize monthly events and lunch meetups to check in on us and ensure we’re adjusting well.

Tasks that were mundane back in Korea like taking a bus, booking a train, or making a refund call became individual challenges and milestones of growth here in the U.S.

To be honest, leaving your comfort zone to live alone in a place where you know no one is never easy. I can’t say everything was perfect or “fantastic.” However, the moment I said goodbye to my family and stepped onto the plane; the moment I raised my hand in class despite the fear of making a mistake; the moment of connection when I shared a laugh with a friend from the other side of the world; and the moments I planned solo trips and solved unexpected problems—all these hardships were instrumental in my personal development. This process allowed me to discover who I truly am, what environments I thrive in, and what kind of people I gravitate toward. It truly shaped me. Having overcome these small and large challenges, I feel like I can face anything now. One thing is certain: I have grown, and the version of me after RMC is different. More positive and evolved.

I don’t know who will read this, but if you are hesitating to take the leap, just close your eyes and go for it. Don’t diminish your own experiences or memories by comparing them to others. Your journey is valuable precisely because it is uniquely yours.”

Gyuri Kim, Fall 2025 Exchange Student from South Korea
