Kappa Sigma - Eta Chapter

Kappa Sigma - Eta Chapter Kappa Sigma's Eta Chapter at Randolph-Macon College. The Eta Chapter of Kappa Sigma was founded at Randolph-Macon on November 14, 1888 by Herbert Milton Martin.

Kappa Sigma in America was founded one chilly evening in the fall of 1869, as five students attending the University of Virginia in Charlottesville gathered in William Grigsby McCormick's room at 46 East Lawn and planted the seed of Brotherhood. For many weeks the bonds of friendship had drawn these five together; now the need became clear for a formal structure to contain their feelings. Thus, no

t only did the Founders formalize their friendship, but they also created a fraternity steeped in the traditions of the past and dedicated to the Pursuit of Learning. The new brothers recorded their bond in a Constitution and in an Oath which set forth the ideals and principles to all Kappa Sigmas today. We left the R-MC campus in 1991 and returned 4 years later to become an active chapter once more in 1995. In 2011, Eta Chapter was awarded the Chapter of Excellence by Randolph-Macon College as well as recognized for having the highest GPA among the fraternities. In 2012, the chapter was awarded the Risk Management and Community Service award by Randolph-Macon College.

A few months ago, our brothers at Xi-Xi Chapter took it upon themselves “not to be a bystander to the problem, but to be a part of the solution.” Today we are proud to say that we are joining Xi-Xi in taking the pledge-

To RECOGNIZE that non-consensual s*x is s*xual assault.
To IDENTIFY situations in which s*xual assault may occur.
To INTERVENE in situations where consent has not or cannot be given.
To CREATE an environment in which s*xual assault is unacceptable and survivors are supported.
Join us in taking the pledge at http://itsonus.org/

It is our responsibility to break the stereotype. It is our promise to be part of the solution.
