Calling All Artists:
Clatsop Community College is pleased to announce a call for entries for the seventeenth annual international juried exhibition, Au Naturel: The N**e in the 21st Century. This highly regarded exhibition will be on view in the Royal Nebeker Art Gallery from January 21 through March 11, 2027, with a community reception on Thursday, February 18 at 6:00 p.m.

Open to artists worldwide, Au Naturel invites contemporary interpretations of the n**e human figure in drawing, painting, and printmaking, ranging from representational approaches to abstraction. The exhibition places particular emphasis on the handmade mark and the expressive, conceptual, and formal possibilities of the human form. This year, a limited number of three-dimensional works will also be considered. Please see the application for size and weight restrictions.

Congratulations to the students who completed Clatsop Community College’s first Skilled Trades Foundations program giving young people ages 16 to 24 an opportunity to explore HVAC, plumbing, electrical work and construction through hands-on training and workplace experience.

This intensive summer training opportunity centered on heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems while also introducing students to plumbing, electrical work, construction and other skilled-trades careers.

The program, funded by the Youth Development Division Job & Work Readiness Grant, was created to help people ages 16 to 24 explore the trades, develop practical skills and prepare to pursue employment or apprenticeship opportunities. Students completed approximately 80 hours of classroom and shop instruction, OSHA 10 safety training and, for those who continued into the work-based learning portion, approximately 80 hours with local trade partners.

Of the 21 students who began the program, 19 completed the training, and 16 were placed with nine area businesses for paid internships or job-shadow experiences. Several emerged from the summer pursuing jobs or apprenticeships in the trades.

The program was designed to give students a realistic introduction to the expectations and opportunities of working in the trades. Students were expected to attend regularly, participate fully, work safely and approach each day with the professionalism required on a job site.

Go, Moe! Moe continues to do great things as she progresses on her educational journey. Check out her story:

🌟 Spotlight on the Intern:
Moe Myint Than; Youth Program Teacher Intern, Consejo Hispano

Returning for an encore performance, please say hello to Moe Myint Than! A student at Clatsop Community College, Moe is working toward her long-term goal of earning a master's degree in Education Curriculum Development and Instruction. This summer, she returned to Consejo Hispano for a second internship with the Youth Program, where she has taken on expanded responsibilities as a Head Teacher in the organization's Summer Youth Enrichment Program.

Originally from Myanmar in Southeast Asia, Moe came to the United States to immerse herself in an education system she deeply values while gaining experience working with students from a wide variety of cultural backgrounds. With six years of teaching experience in her home country, Moe brings a wealth of knowledge, compassion, leadership, and global perspective to her role, making a lasting impact on the youth she serves each day.

Reflecting on why she chose to return for a second internship, Moe shares: "I wanted to intern for Consejo Hispano again because they provide a strong sense of teamwork while encouraging participants to be more aware of diversity and different perspectives. I participated in this program last year, and it was an amazing experience that motivated me to apply again. During the internship, I learned how valuable it is to work together with others, share ideas, and support each other in a professional environment. A second internship gives me the opportunity to continue exploring my career pathway and gain more experience."

Moe plans to continue her educational journey by transferring to Pacific University, where she will further pursue her dream of becoming an educator and eventually earning her master's degree. She hopes to remain in the United States to continue teaching, inspiring, and helping shape the next generation of learners.

Moe's passion for education, commitment to inclusivity, and appreciation for cross-cultural learning make her an outstanding role model for the students she teaches and the colleagues she works alongside. Her dedication to empowering youth and fostering understanding across diverse communities truly embodies the mission of the Clatsop WORKS Internship Program.

We're proud to have inspiring returning interns like Moe in our program. Her enthusiasm for lifelong learning, collaborative leadership, and commitment to creating meaningful educational opportunities demonstrate the lasting impact of experiential learning, and we can't wait to see all she accomplishes in the years ahead!

Summer Matinees are back at the CCC Library on Tuesdays in July and August. Enjoy a film over your lunch break at either noon or 1 p.m. This Tuesday, July 14th, we will be showing Change, Not Charity: The Americans with Disabilities Act (2025) - This program tells the emotional and dramatic story of the decades-long push for equality and accessibility that culminated in the passage of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) in 1990. A story of courage and perseverance, the film highlights the determined people who literally put their bodies on the line to achieve their goal and change the lives of all Americans.

Happy 4th of July from CCC! We had a fun time in the Warrenton parade and are so honored to have received the Mayor's Choice award for our decorated parade entry of our lifeboat from the Maritime program. Go Bandits!!!!

Yes, we are going to brag! As of this morning, all 19 of our 2026 graduates are officially listed as Registered Nurses on the state and federal registry! This means every graduate successfully passed the NCLEX-RN on their first attempt and fulfilled all Oregon State Board of Nursing (OSBN) requirements to earn their registered nursing license.
Even more exciting, this marks the fifth consecutive year that CCC nursing graduates have achieved a 100% first-time NCLEX-RN pass rate. That is an outstanding accomplishment and a testament to the dedication and excellence of our students, faculty, staff, and clinical partners.
Congratulations!!!
