โœจ What a beautiful day to celebrate our Benedictine College School of Nursing Class of 2026 as they transition from the classroom to the bedside ๐Ÿฉบ.

The afternoon began with our traditional Nursing Pinning Ceremony at 1:00 p.m. in Oโ€™Malley-McAllister Auditorium and concluded with Baccalaureate Mass this evening, a day grounded in faith, service, and the call to care for others. ๐Ÿ™

The Pinning Ceremony is one of nursingโ€™s most cherished traditions, originating in the 1860s at the Nightingale School of Nursing in London. It welcomes new graduates into the profession through the blessing of hands โœ‹ and the presentation of the Benedictine College Nursing Pin, a symbol they will carry throughout their careers as a reminder of who they serve and why.

To our Class of 2026: we are so proud of you. You have earned this moment through long clinical hours, late-night study sessions โ˜•, simulation labs, and the quiet acts of compassion that already mark you as nurses. As you step into practice, may your hands be steady, your hearts be open, and your work always be a ministry to those entrusted to your care. ๐Ÿ’•

Congratulations, Ravens! ๐Ÿฆโ€โฌ› The profession is better because you are in it. ๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ

Now on to graduation! ๐ŸŽ“ See you at Commencement, 10:00 a.m. tomorrow! ๐ŸŽ‰

๐Ÿ“ธ Family and friends, if you were with us at the Pinning, please drop some pictures in the comments! We would love to see them and celebrate alongside you!

Nursing students and faculty spent some time at NEK-CAP Atchison County Head Start helping with end-of-year vitals! Pediatric assessment skills in action. Tiny BP cuffs, big impact. From the sound of it, the kiddos handled it like champs too ๐ŸŒŸ.

Today we celebrate ๐ŸŽ‰ Administrative Professionals Day and recognize someone who truly keeps everything running smoothly, our very own Kinzie Tercero.

Her organization, dedication, and attention to detail keep us all on track, and she consistently goes above and beyond in everything she does. Whether it is coordinating the day-to-day or stepping in wherever needed, her impact does not go unnoticed.

We are incredibly grateful for all that she brings to our team. Thank you for everything you do, Kinzie. We appreciate you more than you know! ๐ŸŒŸ

We are ending the week by highlighting ๐ŸŒŸ senior nursing student Maria King, who presented alongside her peers as part of a collaborative research team with Dr. Carletti (Biology) at Discovery Day this past Wednesday. Discovery Day showcases the incredible work of students and faculty, bringing learning beyond the classroom through research, collaboration, and real-world application.

Their presentation explored the relationship between the female menstrual cycle and athletic injury, building on their prior research and contributing to continued investigation of athlete safety and injury prevention.

Great work, Maria and team ๐Ÿ‘.

๐ŸŒŸ We Are an ELNEC Hall of Fame School! ๐ŸŒŸ

Benedictine College School of Nursing has been recognized as a 2025 End-of-Life Nursing Education Consortium (ELNEC) Hall of Fame school. This prestigious honor, awarded by the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) in partnership with City of Hope, recognizes institutions that demonstrate excellence in end-of-life and palliative care education. The ELNEC project is a national and international initiative to improve palliative care education. It provides training and resources to nursing faculty and professionals so they can equip students and healthcare teams with essential end-of-life care knowledge.
This recognition reflects the School of Nursingโ€™s strong commitment to integrating the ELNEC curriculum into its program. Through this effort, students are prepared to deliver high-quality, compassionate care to patients and families facing serious illness, with an emphasis on dignity, ethics, and holistic support.

Rooted in Benedictine Catholic values, our nursing program emphasizes care for the whole person - - addressing physical, emotional, and spiritual needs. Graduates leave prepared to serve with integrity, compassion, and clinical excellence, particularly when caring for vulnerable populations.

Benedictine Collegeโ€™s recognition as an ELNEC Hall of Fame school highlights its ongoing dedication to preparing nurse leaders who provide compassionate, evidence-based care across all stages of life.
