From safaris and museums to legal advocacy and unforgettable connections 🇿🇦✨
OGO Peer Advisor Lilly recently returned from the South Africa: Law, Justice, and Transitions to Democracy program, where she explored the intersection of law, culture, and politics through firsthand experiences across the country.
Throughout the program, students met with organizations, learned about the legacies of apartheid and Nelson Mandela, examined the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, and explored issues surrounding human rights, constitutional law, and international justice. Along the way, they experienced incredible food, breathtaking views from Table Mountain, and unforgettable sunrise safaris.
The experience concluded with a capstone moot court, where Lilly argued a case centered on access to healthcare, applying what she learned throughout the program in a real-world legal setting.
