✨ OGO Spotlight: Meet Emma Furr!

Emma is a senior studying Spanish and Political Science (Pre-Law) from Dayton, Ohio. She serves as an Access and Student Success Advisor on the Global Opportunities team! 🌎
Emma joined OGO because she personally used so many of the resources our office offers while planning her own study abroad experience—and now she wants to help other students do the same! 💙


🇪🇸✨ From OHIO to Salamanca!
Emma studied abroad in Salamanca, Spain, during Spring 2026 through WorldStrides.
But her experience didn’t stop there! During her semester abroad, Emma traveled throughout Spain and visited Switzerland, Portugal, Austria, Slovakia, Romania, Denmark, and Sweden. 🌍✈️
That’s 9 countries and a whole lot of memories!

🌍 Emma’s love for travel started long before college!
Growing up, Emma’s family hosted exchange students, which sparked her love for culture, travel, and language. By seventh grade, she already knew she wanted to study abroad someday.
After high school, she took her first international trip—a solo trip to Denmark and Sweden. 🇩🇰🇸🇪
Years later, that curiosity has taken her to 9 countries and continues to shape the way she sees the world.

📚🌎 Some of Emma’s biggest lessons abroad came when things went wrong.
From changing travel plans to making last-minute decisions, Emma learned how to adapt, stay calm, and figure things out along the way.
She also became more independent, strengthened her Spanish skills, and learned how to connect with people from completely different backgrounds.
Sometimes the moments that don’t go according to plan end up teaching you the most. ✈️

🚆❤️ Sometimes the people you meet for only a few minutes leave the biggest impression.
On a late-night train from Madrid to Salamanca, Emma noticed that the person sitting next to her seemed upset. She asked if he was okay, and he opened up about what he was going through.
For the next hour, they talked about life, and by the time the train arrived, they felt like old friends. They hugged goodbye without ever knowing each other’s names.

OGO Student Feature🌍✨ Meet Celeste Combs!

Celeste is a junior who took her learning abroad through Edinburgh: City and Place! 🏴
One of her favorite memories was visiting Tantallon Castle in the coastal city of North Berwick. After exploring the castle and taking in the views of Bass Rock, Celeste and her classmates spent the day at the beach—and it quickly became one of her favorite days of the entire trip. 🏰🌊
Her biggest piece of advice? Make an effort to become friends with everyone in your group. For Celeste, the connections she made were one of the best parts of her experience.
She returned home feeling more self-aware, confident, and capable—and like a different person in the best way. 💙

✨ OGO Employee Spotlight: Meet Lilly Cochran!

Lilly is a junior majoring in Graphic Design with a minor in Fine Arts and serves as our Graphic Designer!
She was motivated to join the Global Opportunities team by the chance to gain real-world design experience and collaborate with others to bring a shared vision to life. Through her creative work, Lilly helps promote and stylize OGO, designing visuals that inspire students to imagine the incredible opportunities waiting for them around the world. 🌎🎨

🌍 Student Feature: Clara Smith!
Clara is a senior studying English Pre-Law at Ohio University, and she took her studies abroad through the Rhetorics of Remembrance program in the Czech Republic and Germany!

Through this experience, Clara explored how societies remember and memorialize significant historical events, including World War II and the Holocaust.
From historical sites to museums and memorials, Clara’s experience brought her classroom learning to life in a whole new way. 🇨🇿🇩🇪

📚 What does it mean to remember history?
For Clara, studying abroad meant exploring this question through OHIO’s Rhetorics of Remembrance program in the Czech Republic and Germany.
Clara’s spring course, ENG 4600: Topics in English Studies, focused on Holocaust narratives, including Franci’s War by Franci Epstein and Five Chimneys by Olga Lengyel.
Abroad, students connect these narratives to the rhetorical choices behind memorials, museums, and monuments, examining how the places we create to remember the past shape the way we understand it today. 🌍

Clara’s favorite memory from Prague was taking a ferry down the Devil’s Channel and learning about the history of Letná Park.
In 1996, Michael Jackson placed a promotional monument of himself in the park for his HIStory World Tour. What makes this especially interesting? The monument came decades after the destruction of a massive Stalin monument at the same site in 1962.
Today, a metronome stands in its place, representing the country’s communist resistance and the relentless passage of time.
Sometimes the most memorable travel moments are the ones you never expected! 🇨🇿✨

📍 Sometimes, the location tells a story of its own.
While researching democratic division in 20th-century Berlin, Clara discovered the historical significance of Niederkirchnerstraße, the street where part of the Berlin Wall still stands.

During her visit to the Topography of Terror, located along the same street, she connected the physical space to Germany’s complex history. The street once housed the Gestapo headquar

Madelaine is a first-year graduate student studying International Development Studies and serves as our Graduate Advising Coordinator! 🌎 She joined the Global Opportunities team because the role aligns with her academic interests and gives her the opportunity to expand her knowledge through international experiences.

A fun fact about Madelaine: she loves traveling, learning about local history, visiting museums and attractions, and exploring with friends and family! 📚✈️

“Get to know your team!”

Since you’ll be spending so much time together, Morgan says building relationships with your teammates can make the experience more enjoyable—and make working together on your consulting projects even better. 🌎🤝
A global experience is about more than the work. It’s also about the people you experience it with!

Her experience took her from Gaborone, Botswana, to Cape Town and Stellenbosch, South Africa, where she worked with international businesses as part of a consulting team.

💼🌎 Taking marketing global!
As part of the South Africa Global Consulting Program, Morgan worked with two companies: Stylus Apparel and Manufacturing in Gaborone, Botswana, and Aunty Sophie’s in Stellenbosch, South Africa.
Working on the marketing teams, Morgan helped develop marketing ideas, strengthen their online presence, and find new ways to connect with customers.

Morgan was awarded MVB — Most Valuable Bobcat during her Global Consulting Program experience! 💙

The MVB award recognizes a consultant who makes a meaningful and lasting impact on their GCP by supporting their peers, embracing global learning, and contributing positively to team and client outcomes.

🏔️✨ A view she’ll never forget!
One of Morgan’s favorite memories from South Africa was zip lining in Cape Town. It was her first time doing anything like it, making the experience even more exciting!
With incredible views of Cape Town along the way, this adventure quickly became one of the highlights of her trip. 🇿🇦💙
