HTC's Carrie Summerford and Kaitlyn Booher took to the mic yesterday under the twenty-third Spanish Colloquium, a night of multilingual poetry hosted by the Ohio University Dept. of Modern Languages. The event is held annually, this year in the Anderson Auditorium, Scripps.

First-year students writing for the graduate workshop Rulfo’s Hut, Carrie and Kaitlyn presented their original poems “Watching Jerrod Eat Nuts in Winter” and “Amor,” respectively, each fit with live translations. Their works traverse the trials of romance, from Kaitlyn’s gut-wrenching monster imagery to Carrie’s free-verse abstractions of sharing a snack. Both will be available to read on the Modern Language Department website.

The annual publication of the night’s poetry features this year original artwork by Carrie, attached here.
