This year, we put the dogs to work on National Dog Day. Snacks and Meggie are well trained in the archaeological skills of distraction, chaos, and preventing work. This week alone they delayed 14 emails, hindered 32 Teams messages, and obstructed the rehousing of at least 6 boxes. They also supplied the Lab with many sloppy kisses and countless smiles. We appreciate all that they bring to the Lab!

The Lab has so many collections and reports from Pat’s firms, and a good number of Lab alumni worked for him at some point in their careers.

His legacy lives on in all the research and discoveries he has made possible.

Sign up for Material Culture Analysis with Dr. Amanda Roberts Thompson!! The class meets this fall on Tuesdays from 2:55 to 5:35. The coolest part? This class doesn't meet in a classroom; it meets in the Laboratory of Archaeology. While learning about differnt artifact types, you'll be surrounded by over 14,000 boxes of artifacts from all over the world! There is no better place to learn about our physical past. During this year's field school, our crew swapped trowels for a museum tour. We went to see the artifacts already on display at Wormsloe State Historic Site.

Did you know? Wormsloe's tabby ruins are the oldest standing structure in Savannah, and the site's museum holds pieces from centuries of life here, from hand-forged tools to colonial ceramics to everyday household items.

If you've never walked the oak avenue or seen the museum collection yourself, it's well worth the trip. Plan a visit to Wormsloe State Historic Site and see it firsthand.

You may have noticed our accounts have been quiet lately — for good reason. Our 2026 Enfulletv-Mocvse in Archaeology Field School has spent the last four weeks at Wormsloe State Historic Site near Savannah, digging, learning, and processing finds together. Now we're in the Lab for 2 weeks analyzing and cataloging all of our discoveries!

We have a season's worth of field school content to share over the coming weeks. Stay tuned!

What time is it? SUMMERTIME!!

Spring 2026 has been a wild ride! We've moved boxes, bagged artifacts, entered data, got trucks stuck, visited elementary school career days, presented at conferences, welcomed post docs, defended dissertaions, drank lots of coffee, competed in March Mammal Madness, won grants, finished classes, designed museum exhibits, wrote books, enjoyed ice cream socials, visited sites, updated the Oaxaca database, scanned documents, assisted countless First Lego Leauge Teams, AND we got a new suburban!!!

We can't wait to see what Summer 2026 has in store; stay tuned for more!
