Sculpture Program - Lamar Dodd School of Art at the University of Georgia

The undergraduate Sculpture student at UGA learns traditional and contemporary concepts of sculpture; develops a thinking and working vocabulary in the language of form and space; acquires the skills to fabricate, carve, model and cast the forms that a sculptor develops in the creation of art. The UGA Sculpture Program has

facilities for woodworking, stone carving, sheet-metal fabrication, welding, figure modeling, mold-making, and aluminum and bronze casting. The Sculpture Program at the University of Georgia is enhanced by lectures, workshops and classes taught by recognized visiting artists. The program covers a broad range of technical areas and conceptual thinking. Graduate Sculpture
The success of UGA's Sculpture MFAs is the outcome of a competitive selection process, diversity of directions of work, and a commitment by the faculty to challenge and nurture the best efforts by each student. Graduate sculpture program students work in a wide variety of media and concepts. MFA candidates in our program are selected out of applications from the entire nation. Group critiques in the form of studio visits are conducted by all of the sculpture faculty at mid-term and at the end of each semester. This activity fosters discussion, which develops insights, confidence, and professionalism.
