Its focus is intercultural, and provides a place where members of the university community, representing a variety of backgrounds, participate in programs and activities. Did you know? October is National Italian American Heritage Month!

This October diversity month honors the more than 26 million Italian-Americans living in the United States. As the seventh-largest ethnic group, this month celebrates the unique cultural contributions they have made to the country.

We love this. Thanks to The Five 15 for creating a board full of reminders to help us keep going in a safe and healthy way.

Let’s face it, life is hard right now! We are in the middle of a global pandemic and an incredibly important election.

Today, take 5 minutes for yourself to sit in silence, relax, and breathe. Sometimes that’s all we need!

Repost from Inclusive Therapists:

Today, we celebrate and honor the Indigenous Peoples: your stories, your languages, your cultures, and all the ways that you protect your lands and ecosystems for this and future generations.

We are grateful for the ways that you model vital ways of (well) being, such as respect for all living and non-human things, interconnectedness, belonging, harmony, and relationship with the lands.

Celebrating on this one day is meaningless without asking what role we have in your reclamation of land, territory, water, air, language, and story.

We take #IndigenousPeoplesDay as a day of reflection, commitment to stop exploitation and entitlement, to be teachable, and to join you in celebrations.

This year’s Hispanic Heritage Month Theme is “Hispanics: Be Proud of Your Past, Embrace the Future.” ✨

The Hispanic Heritage observance began in 1968 as Hispanic Heritage Week under President Lyndon Johnson, and was expanded by President Ronald Reagan in 1988 to cover a 30-day period, from September 15th to October 15th. It was enacted into law on August 17, 1988, on the approval of Public Law 100-402.

In addition, Mexico celebrates their independence day today!! 🇲🇽
