We had a great time at the Counselor Appreciation Breakfast at Athens State University today! 💙💛

We enjoyed connecting with counselors and support personnel from high schools and community colleges throughout the surrounding area. We made some great connections and look forward to sharing more information about our program with their students soon!

We are grateful to everyone who works behind the scenes to organize these events and, more importantly, to see them through to fruition. Events like these provide valuable opportunities to build relationships, strengthen partnerships, and help more students discover pathways to their future.

Thank you to everyone who made today such a great success! 🎓✨

ASTE 415: Project-Based Instruction

Our ASTE 415 students are getting started on their Project-Based Learning (PBL) unit projects! Yesterday, they started brainstorming ideas, exploring possibilities, and beginning to think through how they can create meaningful, engaging learning experiences for their future students.

We can’t wait to see their ideas develop into innovative PBL units! 🌟📐

Today, our Inquiry-Based Teaching and Lesson Design students participated in a hands-on lesson demonstration! 🔬📚

After experiencing the lesson from a student’s perspective, they examined a sample lesson plan to see how the activities, questions, and learning experiences translated into written lesson plans. This gave students a practical look at the connection between experiencing, designing, and planning inquiry-based lessons—all while learning! 👏

We were excited to kick off the first day of the fall semester with our interns! They had a full day packed with edTPA support sessions, internship preparation, and valuable information from the College of Education.

We’re so proud of all they’ve accomplished and can’t wait to see them put their knowledge into action! We hope they have an amazing first day in their schools tomorrow! 🏫✨

It was a great morning connecting with stakeholders from across the region, building relationships, and learning more about the incredible work happening in our community. Recently, we had the opportunity to catch up with a few of our amazing TEACH alumni! We were excited to deliver First-Year Classroom Supply Kits, visit their classrooms, and get a glimpse into their first days as teachers. 🏫🍎

For some, this is the beginning of their teaching journey, while others are starting their second year and continuing to grow, learn, and make an impact in their classrooms! It was so special to see the spaces they’ve created and hear about their experiences as they begin another exciting school year.

We are incredibly proud of these educators and grateful that we get to continue supporting them beyond graduation. We can’t wait to see all they accomplish this year! ❤️📓✏️

We have wrapped up our final summer math training of the season! We were especially excited to welcome Athens State TEACH alumnus, Mr. Sy Stanfield, back to learn alongside us.

Participants explored engaging, inquiry-based strategies for teaching mathematics including:

🔹 Proving the Pythagorean Theorem
🔹 Using patty paper to teach geometric transformations
🔹 Incorporating coding into the math classroom with Texas Instruments Hubs and Rovers

A huge thank you to everyone who participated throughout the summer. We look forward to seeing these strategies come to life in classrooms across Alabama!
