Congratulations to Jessy Patterson, recipient of the 2026 E.L. Cheatum Award!

This honor recognizes outstanding academic achievement, professional engagement, and meaningful contributions to public issues. Jessy earned her Ph.D. in December 2025, studying how environmental and human influences shape mammal ecology in high-tourism protected areas in sub-Saharan Africa. She now continues her career as a Postdoctoral Research Associate with Warnell.

We’re proud to celebrate this achievement and look forward to her continued contributions to the field.

The University of Georgia has received $8.8 million to help farmers and landowners restore streams and rivers through the Working Lands for Wildlife Southern Waters Framework.

Nearly two dozen biologists and engineers, backed by a collaboration among three UGA colleges and two research centers, will work with landowners across the region to address erosion, degraded dams, forest loss, and other challenges.

These efforts will support conservation practices that improve water quality and aquatic ecosystem health.

Happy Dawg Day of Giving! đŸŸ

Today, we’re celebrating the power of giving and the lives it changes. In this reel, Garrett Mack (BSFR ’09, MFR ’11) shares how alumni-funded scholarships made a real difference in his journey at UGA.

Because of donors like you, Warnell students have access to scholarships, internships, updated classrooms, and support systems like the Student Emergency Fund. These opportunities don’t just help students succeed—they shape future leaders in conservation and natural resources.

For the next 24 hours, we’re calling all Dawgs to give back and pay it forward. Every gift, big or small, helps create more stories like this one.
