From Athens to LA ✈️

More than 50 of our MBA and MSBA students made the trip to Los Angeles for the National Black MBA Association Conference & Career Expo - connecting with employers, exploring opportunities, building relationships, and representing Terry along the way.

Conferences like NBMBAA give our students the opportunity to take their career search beyond campus and engage directly with organizations and professionals from across the country. We’re especially proud of how this group showed up - prepared, curious, and ready to make the most of every conversation.

A huge thank you to the employers, alumni, and partners who spent time connecting with our students throughout the week. These conversations, insights, and connections are what make experiences like this so valuable.

Terry Full-Time MBA students had the opportunity to learn from Bob Pozen during a fireside chat moderated by Professor Tony Middlebrooks.

Drawing from his distinguished career in finance, public policy, and academia, Bob shared practical insights on making decisions under pressure, balancing short-term priorities with long-term goals, developing strong teams, and leading with clarity and accountability. The conversation also explored navigating career transitions and remaining productive without sacrificing personal well-being.

We are grateful to Bob for spending time with our students and for his continued investment in the Terry MBA community through the Pozen Scholars program.

Sometimes, the connections that shape your career begin when you least expect them.

For Pathway MBA student Snigdha “Sid,” it started with a text from her best friend asking her to meet up at Creature Comforts in downtown Athens. That night, she happened to meet Russ Johnson.

Their conversation wasn’t about networking. They talked about music, Athens, Sid’s MBA journey, and her goal of attending medical school and eventually leading healthcare organizations.

Curious about Russ’s career in healthcare analytics, Sid later connected with him on LinkedIn. One conversation led to another, and Russ eventually invited her to shadow him at Piedmont Healthcare.

There, Sid gained firsthand exposure to data analytics, corporate operations, and healthcare decision-making, connecting what she is learning in her MBA to an industry she hopes to lead one day.

As Sid puts it: “I never expected anything professional to come from our chance encounter at Creature Comforts, but that genuine interaction ultimately led to an unexpected professional opportunity and incredible mentorship.”

It’s a reminder of something we emphasize throughout the Georgia MBA experience: your network matters, and meaningful connections often begin with genuine conversation.

Earlier this month, we welcomed our Full-Time MBA and MS Business Analytics Advisory Board to Atlanta for our annual Fall Board Meeting, centered on what’s next for our programs, our students, and the business landscape they’re preparing to enter.

The meeting included updates on the state of our programs and partnerships, incoming class demographics, new strategic developments, and innovations happening across Terry. Most importantly, our Board members rolled up their sleeves for a breakout discussion focused on a question that continues to shape the future of business education: How do we prepare our students for an increasingly AI-enabled workplace?

Board members shared perspectives on the specific AI capabilities they expect to be most in demand over the next three to five years - including generative AI, predictive analytics, and process automation - and discussed how MBA and MSBA students can build the skills, experiences, and business judgment needed to use these tools effectively.

These conversations are exactly why our Full-Time MBA and MSBA Advisory Board matters. By bringing together perspectives from across industries and functions, our Board helps us stay connected to the evolving needs of the market and continue strengthening the experiences we provide our students.

Earlier this month, our Full-Time MBA and MSBA students kicked off fall recruiting season in a BIG way at Terry MBA/MSBA Career Connections – Fall Recruiting Kick-Off at Maggiano’s in Atlanta!

This year’s event brought together 150+ students and 90+ external partners and alumni guests representing 50+ companies - creating an incredible room full of conversations, connections, and opportunities. We were especially excited to see such a strong showing from our Terry alumni, who came out in force to connect with students, share their experiences, and represent organizations across industries.

As students head into fall recruiting, experiences like this give them the opportunity to expand their networks, gain valuable industry perspective, and build relationships that can carry well beyond recruiting season.

A huge thank you to every alum, employer, and friend of Terry who joined us. The energy in the room was a testament to the strength of the Terry community and the incredible network surrounding our students.

From networking under the beautiful canopy at the State Botanical Garden of Georgia and absorbing invaluable, real-world advice from our incredible alumni panel, to cheering at the UGA vs. Arkansas watch party and celebrating a massive Dawg victory this residency weekend truly had it all.

There is nothing quite like finally trading Zoom screens for face-to-face conversations, building those foundational connections, and experiencing the unbeatable energy of Athens together. The bar has officially been set high, and this is only the beginning. Here's to the start of an unforgettable ride with the Class of 2028!
