In tandem with The University of Georgia’s Panhellenic Council and Greek Life Office, the Beta Sigma Chapter of Alpha Chi Omega strongly condemns the acts of racism, injustice, and police brutality that have been displayed throughout our nation. We honor the lives of Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, and George Floyd, who are just three of an innumerable number of Black individuals whose lives have been cut short due to the brutal acts of racism. We stand in solidarity with our Black members, friends, and community members. We see you, we hear you, and we honor your pain. As members of Alpha Chi Omega, we commit ourselves to being Real Strong Women, a title that cannot be rightly achieved without standing alongside our Black brothers and sisters and being actively anti-racist in our community. Though there are no words that can heal these brutal acts, we are deeply sorry.
We challenge our members and the entire University student body to use your voice while recognizing your personal privilege, to hold one another accountable in this effort to both establish and solidify that black lives matter, and unite in the fight for equity.
