The UGA Study Abroad in Tanzania program has two options- pick which one interests you most!
Sustainable Service Learning Program:
The Sustainable Service Learning Study Abroad Program is a unique opportunity to get six credit hours while working with children in Moshi, Tanzania. Spend two weeks at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro, touring children's homes (check out our pictures!), hanging out with the kids and learning how to assess their present needs. Then, working within a budget, plan sustainable projects to implement in partnership with the staff of orphanages, schools, and centers around town.
Spend your weekends in Moshi shopping in the city, hiking through the rainforest to waterfalls and swimming in hot springs. Then, pack your bags for a week long safari in the famous Serengeti National Park and Ngorongoro Crater.
UGA Maymester Program:
The Maymester Program takes you all over Tanzania for an unforgettable travel-study experience. Spend your first week in Moshi, touring coffee farms, shopping in town, walking through markets and visiting factories. Then it is off to Dar Es Salaam, the capital city, where you will learn more about Tanzania's culture.
Next it's the ferry to Zanzibar, the Spice Island. Tour a spice plantation, see Red Colobus monkeys and giant turtles, learn about local culture and spend some time hitting the beautiful beaches of the Indian Ocean. Then, get ready for safari in the Serengeti spotting the Big Five!
Traveling the country gets you six hours of credit in anything from Anthropology, African Studies, Natural History, Economics, Agribusiness, Swahili, or Swahili Culture!
