Our Annual Alumni Panel is an event where we bring back recent OU and OWIB grads to talk to our members and the public about their careers, experiences, and advice to help further the students' careers in multiple disciplines of business. Each panelist will have the opportunity to talk about their experiences and company, then we will open the floor up to any questions you all may have! We will kick off the evening with a keynote speaker, Barbara Allushuski, starting a little past 6pm, so members who have a class that ends at 5:55pm will be able to stroll in! Then we will break for rotations between several panelist's rooms split among core majors represented in the College of Business.

Tip 8: Studying During Finals

“Interestingly, research has shown that human brains are not designed to focus narrowly for long stretches of time. So, plan to work on an individual subject for an hour or two, and then switch. You do not have to split your time equally. You will find that your retention increases, and the repetition that comes from revisiting material more frequently will help your class content “set” in your memory. You can also take short breaks each hour to refresh your mind”.

6 Ways Mindfulness Meditation Can Make You A Better Entrepreneur

An interesting #SundayRead this week is an article by Elise Bialylew describing 6 ways that mindful meditation can help you succeed as an entrepreneur. Give it a read here: https://shetakesontheworld.com/mindfulness-meditation/

Tip 7: Don’t Be Afraid to Fail

“You have to move outside of your comfort zone. Resumes that include failures are great proof that you have taken the necessary risks in your journey. Often, women are more affected by failure and let it affect their confidence. Don't let it. Failure is an inevitable part of success, from which we learn”.

Tip 6: Have Confidence

“Pure confidence ensures success in the business world. As women, we need to step up and be confident in our work because we work just as hard as our male colleagues and can handle the same challenges they can. We need to stop questioning our abilities because we are all capable of the work if we would just have the confidence to know that we are”.

A little late, but happy #motivationalmonday! Life is full of many paths for you to walk down, but sometimes knowing which ones are right for you can be tough. Whether it be trying a new major/minor, club, or job- don’t let uncertainty hold you back. Walk through as many open doors as you can and hold tight to all opportunities extended to you. It may end up being the greatest decision of your life, and if not you’ll still learn from it. As Martin Luther King once said, “You don’t have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step”.

Here's a #saturdaystat!

The range of occupations women workers hold has expanded, with women making notable gains in professional and managerial occupations. In 2016, more than one in three lawyers was a woman compared to fewer than 1 in 10 in 1974.

Tip 5: Your Education

“Remember that education is the key that will open many doors for you. Don’t take it for granted. Take advantage of every opportunity to learn and grow as a student and person. Know that learning happens both in and outside the classroom. Join a club, attend a performance or guest lecture, volunteer. Now is the time to focus on yourself and your education”.

How Millennials Can Overcome Generational Stereotypes
