RSVP is a student-led organization located in the University Health Center that serves the UGA community through education and awareness based efforts to combat sexual and relationship violence. If you are interesting in partnering with RSVP or having RSVP host an event for your organization, please visit https://www.uhs.uga.edu/healthpromotion/hp-programs or email [email protected] for more information.

Mission: The RSVP group strives to educate, inspire, and empower UGA students to actively participate in creating a campus community that is free from interpersonal violence- in any form. This includes speaking out against rape, sexual assault, relationship violence/abuse, stalking, harassment and other forms of violence. The RSVP office, in conjunction with the peer educators, strive to accomplish this mission through: * Informing UGA students about the programs and resources on campus and in the Athens community. * Educating students about how to be an active bystander by providing applicable strategies of intervention * Empowering all students to understand that they share a responsibility in the prevention of sexual and relationship and the creation of a safe and respectful campus community * Promoting the importance of consent in sexual relationships * Challenging social norms and myths that relate to an acceptance of sexual violence * Encouraging any and all UGA students to be active leaders in preventing interpersonal violence We want to make the UGA community and Athens a violence free and safe environment for everyone!

A former member of RSVP, Cali Callaway, helped bring #DenimDay to Weill Cornell Medicine! We are so proud of her and her fellow medical students for supporting survivors!

The students of Weill Cornell Medicine stand in solidarity with survivors of sexual violence everywhere. April 25th marks Denim Day, an international campaign to raise awareness about sexual assault and the misconceptions that surround it. This movement was sparked by an Italian Supreme Court case where judges overturned a rape conviction because they felt the survivor's jeans were too tight. The next day, women in the Italian Parliament wore jeans in protest.

Today, WCM students led by Do No Harm, the anti-sexual violence student group, wore their jeans and white coats as future healthcare providers to commit themselves to survivors. #DenimDay #DoNoHarm #SAAM #CareDiscoverTeach #WeillCornellMedicine

Meet the RSVP Exec Member of the week: Allison Wray!
She is a fourth year psychology and women's studies double major who wants to be a women’s advocate after she graduates from UGA. Ally got involved with RSVP during her freshman year because she personally knew people who had been affected by interpersonal violence. And after four years with us, she is our VP of Internal Affairs and Peer Education. When asked about why she invested her college years in RSVP, Allison had this to say about RSVP's role with Sexual Violence: "While I wish it didn’t affect people, I hope individuals feel as though RSVP will advocate for survivors’ rights and as though people really do care about them." We hope to continue our mission through others just as passionate as Ally. Thank you for your years of service, we are so proud to have you on our executive board.

Meet our Executive Member of the week: Avni Ahuja!
She is a Sophomore at UGA majoring in Sociology with a minor in International Affairs. Avni is a co-VP of Campus and Community Outreach with Mallory Grizzle, where she says they "work to build RSVP's relationships with organizations in UGA and in the Athens community." She originally became involved with RSVP in the Fall of her Freshman year by the recommendation of a friend, and has since worked to spread the message in which she so fervently believes. Avni contends that" If our college is to push for a campus free of interpersonal violence, it starts by creating an open dialogue and reaching out to our students and faculty." Her executive position gives her a unique opportunity to facilitate this kind of dialogue in our community.
Finally, When asked about why she chose RSVP, she replied: "Everyday RSVP is working to build awareness about this issues and create a safer community for everyone; I want to continue being a part of that."

Thank you for your passionate dedication Avni to our student group!

Meet Mallory Grizzle!
She is one of the RSVP Co-Vice Presidents of Campus and Community Outreach, but has been involved in the student group since her Freshman year. Mallory says that she primarily joined "to help educate her peers on the dangerous abundance of sexual assault on college campuses". She hopes to increase the presence of RSVP in the minds of UGA students, and make our resources more common knowledge. Mallory loves seeing the impact that she can make on someone's life, and hearing how helpful RSVP is for those going through a hard time. Thank you Mallory for your dedication to RSVP and our mission:
to Educate, Inspire, and Empower the students on UGA's campus.

Meet Devon Olding! She is a Sophomore International Affairs & Arabic double major, and the RSVP Vice President of Event Planning. She says that she was drawn to the Peer education position her freshman year because she knew that RSVP would be able to teach her about “advocacy, communication, and empowerment” which are all very important values in her life and the way that she fosters relationships and personal missions. Her hope for this coming year is to spread awareness about RSVP and make the organization a more commonly known name on campus that has the reputation and goal: “to educate, inspire, and empower”.

We are ecstatic to kick off our “Evective Member Mondays” with an interview of our lovely President, Audrey Smith.
She is a Senior Health Promotion Major who loves reading books for fun when she can get some spare time. When asked what she was grateful for, she replied:” The opportunity to pursue an education in something I genuinely care about about.”
When asked about her time at UGA, Audrey reports that she has spent a considerable amount of time working with RSVP ever since she became involved her Freshman Year. She explains that she was looking for her place on campus and “ wanted to be apart of something with people who were passionate about justice and equality” when she found that in RSVP.
As for the future of RSVP, Audrey has a solid vision for the Student group as far as growth and involvement are concerned. The President says that she “ ...would love to see RSVP partner with more student organizations on campus to open dialogue about the intersections of interpersonal violence and other important social issues!”

She has been an integral part in creating the RSVP student group that we are today, and is a perfect example of a leader who truly believes in the cause she is backing. Thank you for all of your hard work, Audrey!

We are so incredibly proud of our own, Nicholas Twiner for being such an outstanding student and presence on campus. We have been lucky enough to have as a part of our organization since his Freshman year and we couldn't be more grateful. Thank you for all your hard work, we love seeing it pay off!

A big shout out to our very own Nicholas Twiner, who is this week's UGA Amazing Student! Nick is graduating this December with bachelor's degrees in linguistics, classical languages, and classical culture.

He chose to attend UGA because "it had everything I wanted to do and was a great value. ...the UGA Honors Program gave me resources and funding to study abroad, while also helping to connect with other students."

Nick is extremely active on and off campus (he went to Rome, Italy, through the Honors International Scholars Program), and because of his leadership and service, last year he was awarded the Honors Program's Crane Leadership Scholarship.
