UGA Archway Partnership connects University of Georgia resources with communities statewide.

Through UGA Public Service and Outreach, we partner with communities to address local priorities via faculty expertise, student engagement, and applied research. The Archway Partnership connects communities across Georgia to the knowledge, expertise and other resources at the University of Georgia. The community determines the needs and Archway facilitates identification of faculty and students with expertise and similar interest.

Every community has different priorities. That means every CRC partnership looks a little different, too.

Across Georgia, communities participating in CRC have worked with UGA partners on projects addressing workforce, community health, infrastructure, downtown development, leadership, recreation, and more.

The process starts with the community—not a predetermined project. CRC helps local leaders come together around the priorities that matter most and connects those needs and opportunities with UGA faculty, students, and resources.

Welcome to the Archway family, Greene County! 🎉

Greene County has been selected as UGA's newest Archway Partnership community! Over the coming months, local leaders, organizations and residents will work together to identify the opportunities and priorities that will shape future projects.

Greene County joins Archway with a strong foundation of collaboration already in place — from downtown revitalization efforts to the Portrait of a Graduate partnership between the Greene County School System and Lake Oconee Academy. We can't wait to see what's ahead!

Applications for the Fall 2026 Connected Resilient Communities cohort open August 10!

CRC works alongside Georgia communities to identify local priorities and connect them with UGA faculty, students, and resources that can help turn ideas into action. Whether your community is thinking about workforce, infrastructure, health, downtown development, quality of life—or a challenge unique to your community—CRC starts by listening to what matters locally.

The Georgia Road Trip wrapped up with a visit to Fairview Park Hospital in Dublin, where students saw firsthand how community partnerships and innovation can transform rural healthcare.

From there, the group traveled to Oconee Fall Line Technical College in Sandersville for a true Southern lunch and conversations with community leaders and local physicians about the impact and importance of rural healthcare.

The final stop was Washington Regional Medical Center—a hospital that was once at risk of closing and is now ranked among the nation’s Top 100 rural medical centers.

Thank you to all of our partners across Georgia who helped make this tour possible. Throughout the journey, the power of relationships was on full display, and we hope the experiences, connections, and lessons from this trip will leave a lasting impression on every student and participant.

Day 2 of the Georgia Road Trip kicked off at Central Georgia Technical College in Warner Robins, where students got a firsthand look at the many professionals who make up a healthcare team. From there, the group visited the VA Center in Dublin to learn more about expanding healthcare access across the region before exploring everything downtown Dublin has to offer—including a few Pokémon cards along the way.

One message from a community member stuck with the group throughout the day: “Find a small town to practice in—you might need it as much as it needs you.” It’s a powerful reminder that choosing to serve a rural community isn’t just about meeting a need—it’s about finding purpose, connection, and making a lasting impact.

Day 1 of the Georgia Road Trip took us to Macon and Thomaston, where incoming UGA medical students toured Piedmont Macon and Upson Regional Medical Center and enjoyed lunch in downtown Thomaston.

The tour introduces students to the many opportunities to train, practice, and serve in communities across Georgia. As one nurse at Upson Regional shared, “We’re a small town, but a big family.” That sense of community is exactly what this experience is all about.

A day of service can make a lasting impact—and our Dublin-Laurens Look Ahead Georgia interns experienced that firsthand.

The group spent the day serving the community in a variety of ways:
💙 Helping organize donations at Kid's Cup, which provides clothing, essentials, toys, Bibles, and other necessities for children entering foster care and families in need.
🌿 Partnering with Keep Dublin Laurens Beautiful to clean up two roads in Dexter and help care for the local environment.
🎲 Ending the day at Addington Place of Dublin, where they assisted with Bingo and enjoyed spending time with residents.

These experiences gave our interns the opportunity to build teamwork and leadership skills while learning the value of giving back to the communities they call home.

Thank you to Kid's Cup, Keep Dublin-Laurens Beautiful, and Addington Place for welcoming our interns and providing such meaningful opportunities to serve!

Exciting things are happening in Jeffersonville!

Recently, University of Georgia lecturer James Schulte and students from UGA's College of Environment and Design visited Twiggs County to begin work on a downtown beautification and revitalization project.

During their site visit, students explored Jeffersonville's downtown and park spaces, gathering ideas and insights that will help shape creative design concepts over the coming weeks. They'll combine what they learned in the community with the skills they're developing in the classroom to create a unified design guide featuring recommendations for future development.

At the end of the project, the students will return to present their ideas to the community, providing a resource that can help guide future planning and support lasting local impact.

This project is part of UGA's Connected Resilient Communities (CRC) initiative through the Archway Partnership, which connects Georgia communities with university faculty and students to address local priorities while providing valuable real-world learning experiences.

We look forward to seeing the students' vision for Jeffersonville come to life!
