Ended September with our first virtual mentor mingle. All 8 of our students participated and were able to meet some mentors they see daily or haven’t met yet - it was full of laughter, Pictionary and Jackbox games! Another one in the future, what a way to make Zoom call interactive and fun for our program!

#FeatureFriday • Meet Isabella! She is a senior majoring in Biology with a minor in Spanish. After graduation, she plans to move to New York to attend Columbia Dental School. She began volunteering with Destination Dawgs in Spring 2018 after learning about the program from one of her best friends from high school, Marina, who is currently a student in the program. Isabella has always worked closely with organizations that work with people with special needs but did not know about Destination Dawgs until Marina told her about it. Her favorite Destination Dawgs memory was the dance-off at the Destination Dawgs End-of-Year party last spring. • Favorite Spot on Campus: Tate Student Center Game Room (one of the students in the program, Austin, introduced her to this cool campus space!)• Favorite TV Show: Grey’s Anatomy • Favorite Hobby: playing tennis • Fun Fact: “I’m OBSESSED with dogs” 🐾 • Thank you for all of the amazing things you do for our program, Isabella! ❤️🖤 #UGAServes #peermentor #ipse

Our students have been very busy over the last week. Jamie and his mentors had a blast at University Union’s Dawgs After Dark: Winter Wonderland last Thursday night. Malerie celebrated her birthday with her mentors and friends from the program on Friday. Lele and Mackenzie cooked delicious meals for the Athens community through UGA’s Campus Kitchen on Monday night. Abby rode a horse during her Beginning Horsemanship class Tuesday afternoon. Finally, Austin played a game of Humans vs. Zombies with his friends on Myers Quad Tuesday night. We have had a busy week, but we are so excited to see what the rest of the week (and semester) has in store! #ipse #studentinvolvement #destinationdawgs @ University of Georgia
