On August 26th, The Clark Atlanta University School of Education proudly welcomed our students, faculty, and staff to the Fall 2026 School of Education Opening Assembly and Social Mixer.

This gathering was more than a formal start, it was a celebration of our collective purpose, a reaffirmation of our dedication to excellence in education, and a reminder of the strength we have when we come together as a community.

This annual gathering marks the official start of our new academic year and journey together, celebrating our shared commitment to excellence, innovation, and service in education.

As we embark on a new semester, we reaffirm our dedication to fostering a supportive, inclusive, and intellectually vibrant community where every voice matters and every dream is nurtured.

The convening inspired our faculty, staff and scholars to lead with purpose, learn with passion, and work collaboratively toward shaping a brighter future for the learners we serve.

We love when our professors are so inspired they want to show off their work!

Here our very own Dr. Towanda Harris, Ed.D, Assistant Professor and School of Education Literacy Coordinator, is showing off her creative billboard prior to students arriving for the fall semester.

Tell her your thoughts in the comments.

Some schools give you a degree.

The right school gives you the confidence to lead, the courage to ask bigger questions, and the conviction to create meaningful change.

This Alumni Love Letter reflects the journey of growth that so many members of the School of Education community experience. It's about discovering your voice, embracing challenges, and stepping into every room prepared to make an impact.

Your leadership isn't measured only by titles or accomplishments. It's reflected in the educators, researchers, advocates, and changemakers our alumni become as they serve their schools, communities, and the future of education.

To our alumni: thank you for carrying the CAU legacy forward and demonstrating what it means to lead with purpose.

What is one lesson from your time at Clark Atlanta University that continues to guide you today? We'd love to hear your story in the comments.

Behind every graduation photo is a story of perseverance.

Late nights spent studying. Lessons that challenged perspectives. Professors who believed in their students. Classmates who became lifelong friends. Moments of uncertainty that eventually turned into confidence.

Graduation is more than a ceremony. It's the celebration of growth, resilience, and the beginning of a new chapter.

To the graduates of the Clark Atlanta University School of Education: Congratulations on this incredible milestone. Whether you're stepping into a classroom, pursuing advanced research, leading within your community, or continuing your academic journey, you are carrying forward a legacy of excellence and service.

Your impact is just beginning, and we can't wait to see the lives you'll shape in the years ahead.

Teachers truly make a difference. Not only in the lives of their students, but in the lives of the future educators they mentor along the way.

Every lesson shared, every word of encouragement, every challenging conversation, and every moment spent believing in a student has the power to shape the kind of teacher they become. That ripple effect reaches classrooms, families, and communities for years to come.

At Clark Atlanta University's School of Education, we believe great educators are developed through knowledge, mentorship, and a commitment to serving others with excellence and compassion.

This reflection from one of our alumni is a powerful reminder that the influence of a professor or mentor doesn't end at graduation. It continues every time that educator walks into a classroom ready to inspire the next generation.

Was there a professor, mentor, or teacher who helped shape your journey? Tag them in the comments or share a memory of someone who made a lasting impact on your life.

The words every student at the School of Education waits to hear from Dean Turner.

Congratulations to all of our 2026 Graduates. You did it!

The HBCU experience can't be fully captured in a brochure or campus tour.

It's found in the friendships that become family.

The classmates who celebrate your victories, encourage you through challenges, and remind you why you belong.

The mentors who see your potential before you see it yourself. The community that continues long after graduation.

For many students, that's what makes CAU School of Education more than a place to earn a degree. It's a place to grow, to lead, to find your voice, and to become part of a legacy built on excellence, culture, and connection.

This reflection reminds us that belonging isn't just something students experience. It's something they carry with them wherever life takes them next.

What does the HBCU experience mean to you? Whether you're a student, alumnus, faculty member, or supporter, we'd love to hear your story in the comments.

We're happy to share Dr. Valerie Bennett, Co-PI for the NSF NOYCE Teacher Fellows program along with two NOYCE Teacher Fellows, Kyrstine Glover and Karma Moore, had the honor to attend the 2026 Noyce Summit in Washington DC this summer.

The 2026 Noyce Summit brings together NSF Robert Noyce Teacher Scholarship Program scholars, fellows, alumni, faculty, researchers, and project leaders to strengthen the national STEM teacher pipeline, especially for high-need schools and communities.

The summit highlights effective practices for recruiting, preparing, supporting, and retaining highly qualified mathematics and science teachers while also creating space for participants to share research, program models, classroom innovations, and lessons learned from Noyce-funded projects.

Through keynote sessions, presentations, posters, networking, and skills-based learning opportunities, the 2026 Summit emphasizes collaboration, teacher leadership, workforce connections, and evidence-based strategies that help STEM educators make a lasting impact in K–12 classrooms.

The Noyce program’s stated purpose is to recruit and prepare STEM majors and professionals to become K–12 teachers in high-need districts, and AAAS supports the program through annual conferences, dissemination, webinars, and community-building activities.

The CAU motto came in full force when Debbie Allen asked our graduating class, “What you gonna do now?”.

It’s something that crosses every graduate’s mind before, during, and after crossing that stage during graduation.

It’s also what our School of Education faculty can’t wait to hear from our scholars. So we ask you, “What you gonna do now?”

Tell us in the comments.
