Great to have ICePP director, Charles Hankla, share insights from his recent book—In Pursuit of Prosperity: Industrial Policy and the Politics of Economic Upgrading—at today's lecture!

A key takeaway is that industrial strategy thrives when both state and private-sector actors are aligned in ways that can sustain effective upgrading coalitions.

ICePP was thrilled to host the 2024 Public Finance Conference last week in honor of the remarkable career of its founding director, Jorge Martinez-Vazquez.

With over 40 years of transformative work in fiscal decentralization and academia, Dr. Martinez’s impact on economic theory, real-world policy, and the careers of countless students is unparalleled.

This conference provided an intimate setting for experts, friends, and colleagues from around the world to reflect on his contributions and engage in forward-thinking discussions about the evolving landscape of decentralization as well as the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.
