🌎Yesterday our students in Dr. Subha Xavier’s courses in African Studies and French spoke to Ève Blouin, daughter of Andrée Blouin, African revolutionary, activist and political strategist, Chief of Protocol to Patrice Lumumba, during his short lived government before his brutal assassination.

Eve Blouin shared with us the grueling, but liberating process of reclaiming and republishing her mother’s autobiography My Country Africa, Autobiography of the Black Pasionara.

It was a thoughtful, touching and eye opening conversation led by our students with participants from Kinshasa, London, Brussels and Canada. It was also broadcasted live on all Friends of the Congo platforms. 🇨🇩

We are beyond grateful to Ève Blouin for her generosity and transformative work. She inspired us to continue to seek justice in Congo.

We were delighted to share digital space with the Centre Culturel Andrée Blouin as well. This webinar was the culmination of a semester long Congo Book group between Emory, Spellman, Morehouse and Friends of the Congo.
