Georgia State University is addressing the nursing workforce shortage head-on — and we just brought in a national leader to help do it.
Fayron Epps PhD, RN, FGSA,FAAN, joins the Byrdine F. Lewis College of Nursing and Health Professions as Associate Dean of Nursing this July, bringing over two decades of scholarship, advocacy, and community-driven impact.
A Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing and founder of Alter Dementia — recently featured in the New York Times — Dr. Epps has spent her career turning research into real change for people living with dementia and the families who care for them.
She arrives with a clear mission: "I come with a heart full of purpose and a commitment to advancing health outcomes, preparing the next generation of nurse leaders, and building bridges between academic nursing and the communities that need us most."
As Associate Dean of Nursing at GSU, she'll do exactly that — growing enrollment, strengthening clinical partnerships, launching a new mobile health clinic, and preparing the nurse leaders Georgia needs.
Big things are coming for Lewis College. Welcome home, Dr. Epps.
