Congratulations to Alexa D. Thompson, MSN, APRN, CPNP-PC for successfully defending her dissertation last week, entitled, "HPV Vaccine Knowledge, Motivation, and Behavioral Skills in Pediatric Nurse Practitioners Providing Adolescent Care." She completed a three-manuscript dissertation which includes a published health policy paper on adolescent self-consent for the HPV vaccine https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0891524524001809, a qualitative literature review of parental HPV vaccine hesitancy, and findings from her quantitative study on HPV vaccine knowledge, motivation, and behavioral skills in pediatric nurse practitioners. Her work provides insightful evidence to support improved HPV vaccine uptake for the prevention of HPV-related cancers.
Thanks to committee members Regena Spratling, PhD, RN, APRN, CPNP-PC, FAANP, FAAN, School of Nursing (Chair), Jiwon Lee, PhD, RN, MPH, School of Nursing, and Mary Cox, MD, PhD, Snellville Pediatrics.
