BROKEN HEART!
My heart was already broken about the way in which our Latino family members are being mistreated by the Trump Regime.
But now the addition of the over 300,000 Haitians to that number of folks to be uprooted and separated from the fragile lives that many of them have managed to weave over their years of living here with " temporary protective status" has shattered my hear even more. TPS is not a good place to be and to have to live with for the long run because it is clear that it can be taken from you at any given moment and your life can be upended.
Only those interested in cruelty and violence would do the things that this regime is doing anyway. It is so sad to me and causes me to grieve deeply.
Along with this source of grief for me is the silence from parts of our community that should be raising a loud outcry, but seems to be unaware of how badly folks are being treated. Our faith communities mostly have been very anemic in their outcry around all of the atrocities that are happening. The political community and especially the current Congressional officials are so complicit with all that is happening because they do not have the moral courage to act. The Supreme Court is complicit. How I long for the spirit of the Earl Warren Court that helped to foster social justice reforms in the past.
And we the people, we have done a lot, but it is not enough.
I hope that a large and resounding cry of outrage is on its way in the midterm election season.
May we all be more than a half shade brave

IT IS HERE, THE BOOK IS PRINTED. THIS NOT JUST A COVER ANYMORE!!! I AM SO EXCITED TO SEE IT.
I had my first media interview a few days ago and the publicist and her team are wonderful and have lined up a good array of folks for interviews including my dear friend Rose Scott at WABE 90.1 which is always such a treat. This is my 9th book and my goal is to write 10.
