University System of Georgia The University System of Georgia is composed of 25 public colleges and universities, the State Archives and the Georgia Public Library Service (GPLS).

The University System of Georgia, a part of the community in each of Georgia’s 159 counties, provides services across the state. The University System is composed of 26 public colleges and universities, the State Archives and the Georgia Public Library Service (GPLS). GPLS encompasses approximately 389 facilities in 61 library systems throughout Georgia.

Georgia Southern is expanding opportunities to prepare the next generation of health care professionals. 🦅

The Waters College of Health Professions at Georgia Southern University has received approval from the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia to move forward with a new Master of Medical Science in Physician Assistant Studies program.

Located at the Armstrong Campus in Savannah, the program will prepare future physician assistants through a combination of classroom learning, hands-on clinical training and service experiences in communities where health care professionals are needed most.

With plans to prepare 35–40 physician assistants each year, the program will help strengthen Georgia’s health care workforce while expanding opportunities for students to pursue careers dedicated to serving others.

Pending final accreditation approvals, Georgia Southern expects to begin recruiting its inaugural cohort within the next two years.

junior mass communication major, Darren Smith, was chosen from over 2,700 applications nationwide to serve as the university's sole representative for the 2026 BET Next Gen Ambassador Program. The leadership development program offers participants practical experience in the entertainment business and is intended for students interested in media creation, marketing communications, and public relations.

Georgia’s students have big DREAMS, and this weekend, the USG community came together to help make them possible.

The USG Foundation raised more than $2.4 million to support student success and the DREAMS Scholarship Endowment, culminating in the 22nd annual Board of Regents’ Scholarship & Awards Gala.

The evening also honored former USG Chancellor Erroll B. Davis Jr. with the Elridge McMillan Lifetime Achievement Award, while recognizing Gov. Brian P. Kemp and Chancellor Sonny Perdue for their service to Georgia.

Over the past 20 years, the USG Foundation has awarded more than $20 million in need-based scholarships to more than 16,000 students across Georgia.
