Several of our students and faculty attended the 2026 Georgia Occupational Therapy Association (GOTA) Annual Conference last weekend in Athens, GA! This year’s theme, Gathering, highlighted the value of bringing together OT students, educators, and practitioners to share ideas, learn from one another, and explore new possibilities in practice. We’re grateful for opportunities like these that strengthen our OT community, inspire collaboration, and support continued growth in the profession! 💙

Our second-year OT students recently visited the Aware Home at Georgia Tech as part of their Assistive Technology class! Students explored a home designed to evaluate accessibility and support independent living while completing a mock home evaluation.

This experience gave students the opportunity to consider how home environments can impact daily activities, identify potential barriers, and explore ways to use assistive technology and environmental modifications to promote independence, safety, and participation in everyday life.

This weekend, our OT students had the opportunity to attend the Pediatric Rehabilitation Symposium at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, highlighting pediatric spinal cord injuries! 💚

Students heard from an interdisciplinary team of healthcare professionals, listened to personal accounts from individuals and families impacted by spinal cord injuries, practiced upper extremity splinting, and explored advances in pediatric rehabilitation.

Several of our OTD students and faculty spent Saturday alongside Kinesiology PhD students at the Bike MS: Georgia Peach Ride! 🚴‍♀️

Our team had the opportunity to connect with the community and support research focused on testing a novel fall prevention program. Attendees could stop by to learn more about ongoing research projects and chat with student researchers about their work.

A huge thank you to Dave McBrayer for joining our second-year students to share his experience living with a spinal cord injury!

Hearing his story gave students a meaningful opportunity to learn beyond the classroom and gain a deeper understanding of the challenges and adaptations that can shape life after spinal cord injury.

Back in July, Professor McIntyre, Dr.Bhattacharjya, and nine of our second-year students attended the Early Cerebral Palsy Health Summit at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland. Students engaged in various workshops surrounding early Cerebral Palsy, as they learned from experts and professionals across a range of healthcare disciplines!
