As we move into a well deserved Fall break, here are a few ILA teaching highlights from the first half of the semester!
Dr. Deighton-Mohammed’s First-Year-Seminar “Religion, Self-Care, and Consumerism” practiced yoga with ATL-based teacher Brianna Whitfield and enjoyed a private screening of “The Anti-Yogi Show: Liberation not Lululemon” and Q&A with writer and performer Mayuri Bhandari.
Dr. Tulke’s “Visual Culture” visited the Carlos for a conversation with curator Ruth Allen about the museum’s Greek and Roman collections and the newly installed exhibition of prints by Sergio Suárez.
In Dr. Wakefield’s “Interdisciplinary Foundations” students went to the board with their friend-to-friend advice for the tragic character Antigone.
Students in Dr. Tulke’s “Qualitative Methods” heard from Hispanic Studies PhD candidate Mumi Vélez about her research on reproductive health in Argentina and Brazil.
“Power and the University,” a graduate level course taught by Drs. Loudermilk and Wakefield completed a power mapping of Emory.
Our ILA juniors in Interdisciplinary Research Design enjoyed getting to know the ILA faculty and identifying mentors for their senior theses.
And finally, our seniors took over their seminar room, collaboratively leading class around a shared research interest.
