Kappa Omega chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Its inception was lead by AKA Founding Member and Kappa Omega Charterer, Marie Woolfolk Taylor, to its chartering in 1923 as the first chapter in the south.

In 1908, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority became America's first Greek-letter organization established by Black college women. Her roots date back to Howard University, Washington, D.C., where the idea for formation was conceived by Ethel Hedgeman Lyle of St. Louis, Missouri. Alpha Kappa Alpha is the oldest Greek-letter organization established in America by Black college women. The record of its origin, growth and development, activities, evolving goals, and accomplishments is more than an interesting chronicle of a colorful bit of college-based Americana. It is, rather, a significant and inspiring reflection of the emergence of a dynamic group in a changing culture. The efforts of Alpha Kappa Alpha women in the promotion of high scholarship, vocational and career guidance, health services, the advancement of human and civil rights, and in so many other areas constitute a priceless part of the American experience in the twentieth century.

Kappa Omega is proud to celebrate the impact of our partnership with Project Safety Nets and Bonaba Lac Rose Elementary School in Senegal! Our $1,000 contribution helped provide essential classroom resources, breakfast supplies, equipment, and school improvements that are helping students arrive nourished, prepared, and ready to learn.

And the results speak volumes: Bonaba Elementary School achieved a 100% pass rate on its examinations! 🎉

From Atlanta to Senegal, we’re proud to keep Championing Service and making an impact that reaches far beyond our borders. 🌍✨

Join us as we stand with survivors, remember those whose lives have been forever changed by abuse, and reaffirm our commitment to building communities rooted in love, respect, and hope. Domestic Violence Awareness Month reminds us to pause, reflect, and take action, but creating sate, healthy relationships is a commitment we make every day.
Nearly 1 in 3 women and 1 in 4 men in the United States have experienced physical violence, sexual violence, or stalking by an intimate partner during their lifetime. Behind every statistic is a person, a family, and a story deserving of compassion, dignity, and support.
As Champions, we INSPIRE hope through education, grace, and action. Whether it's believing a survivor, offering encouragement, or helping connect someone with resources, every act of kindness has the power to change a life.

It doesn’t have an age, title, income, profession, or status. It can touch the woman who seems to have it all together, the caregiver who is always caring for everyone else, the leader who keeps showing up, or the friend whose smile never gives away what she’s carrying.

That’s why conversations about mental health matter.

Let’s create communities where we can talk without shame, listen without judgment, and ask for help without fear.

Check in with yourself. Check on your people. And remember—a simple “How are you REALLY doing?” can open the door to a conversation someone desperately needs.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month reminds us to pause, reflect, and take action, but the importance of early detection extends far beyond October. Join us as we honor survivors, remember the lives we've lost, and stand beside every individual and family impacted by breast cancer.
Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer among women, aside from skin cancers, and about 1 in 8 women in the United States will be diagnosed with invasive breast cancer during their lifetime. Early detection saves lives, making awareness, education, and regular screenings more important than ever.
As Champions, we INSPIRE hope through compassion, education, and support. Whether it's scheduling a mammogram, encouraging a loved one to get screened, or simply being there for someone on their journey, every act of care matters.
Throughout October, we'll be sharing stories of hope, resilience, and survivorship from across the Significant South Atlantic Region, and we'd love to hear yours. If you're a survivor, currently navigating your journey, or would like to honor the memory of someone special, share your story in the comments or send us a direct message. Your story may inspire someone to schedule a screening, seek support, or know they are not alone.

September is Su***de Prevention Awareness Month, and this is your reminder that sometimes the strongest person in the room is carrying something no one can see. đź’—đź’š

Check on your strong friends. Check on the ones who are always smiling, always serving, always showing up, and always saying, “I’m good.” Ask the question—and then create space to really hear the answer.

A text. A phone call. A listening ear. A follow-up. A reminder that help is available. Small actions can make a BIG difference.

Let’s continue creating communities where asking for help is met with compassion, not judgment, and where no one feels like they have to carry life alone.
