That’s a wrap on an EPIC summer of Campuswink tours! 🎓💙
When we launched Campuswink in April, we truly had no idea what summer would look like.
But it turns out families DO want access to firsthand, honest, unscripted information straight from the students actually living it!
This summer, we connected prospective students and families with current college students across the country, both on campus AND from their couches.
💻 Our most popular school for virtual sessions? UT Austin! But families also connected virtually with Guides at Syracuse, CU Boulder, Vermont, Elon and many more, without ever needing to leave home.
💙 Greek Life sessions were in HIGH demand. Want to talk directly with an active sorority or fraternity member before rush? Umm… YES. ‼️😉
🏫 And our private campus tours took us everywhere! One of my favorite moments was getting a request from a family looking for a Mandarin-speaking Guide at UPenn and finding one within 30 minutes.
🇺🇸 We even arranged hard-to-schedule tours over Fourth of July weekend, because sometimes the only time a family can get to campus is the time they can get to campus!
And perhaps the best part? We get to do BOTH sides of this equation:

Four months in, and it has been an absolute BLAST and an honor to see this idea come to life.

Hi all! 👋 I'm a mom of 4 — two in college, two in high school — and after going through the college process with my older two, I realized there were some MAJOR issues with college tours:

🗓️ Sometimes they weren't offered when we could go — or filled up way too fast
👥 When we did get on one, they were crowded (or one family monopolized the guide's attention... you know the one 😅)
📋 And even the good ones are, let's face it, scripted. They show you buildings — but we always left with the REAL questions unanswered: finding friends, campus culture, party scene, dorms, Greek life, how hard it is to register for classes... all the things.

So I built the thing I couldn't find: a platform where any family can connect with current college students for private campus tours or virtual Q&A sessions (because college visits are NOT cheap, and you shouldn't have to leave home to get real, UNSCRIPTED answers.)

We launched in April, and since then we've helped dozens of families:
✨ Tours on THEIR schedule — last minute, even over the 4th of July
✨ Greek Life networking calls with active members that turned into real friendships
✨ Sessions for students researching their "Why Us" supplemental essays (parents of seniors: this is a major hack 🔑)
✨ Sessions for rising high school freshmen who want to start 9th grade with goals in mind

And our favorite side quest? Helping these Gen Z kids get out of their comfort zones and practice meeting new people. ❤️

Here Jeff Selingo (author of “Dream School”) gives insight on the college admissions landscape.
Takeaways are:
-Last year more than 13 million college applications were filed
-Families have access to more information about colleges than ever before but are more confused than they’ve ever been.
-clarity about sense of belonging, teaching, advising and overall college experience is what families need more than data about rankings and acceptance rates.
-act like a consumer when approaching this giant investment, go off the beaten path to find undergraduates who are not the offical tour guides

-no campus is perfect and there will never be a perfect fit, instead which tradeoffs are you willing to make to find your best fit
