Cynitra Anderson - Candidate for Student Gov Community Outreach Coordinator

My name is Cynitra Anderson. I characterized myself as a Visionary, Vetrepreneur and Virtuous Woman.

1) I am a visionary due to the fact that I envision solutions to problems from past history.
2) I am a Vetrepreneur, because I am a military Navy veteran that owns my own business in the Information Technology security industry.
3) I am a Virtuous Woman because I am a believer of God and Jesus Christ who lives by scriptures of Proverbs 31.

I am running for the position as Historian and Community Outreach Coordinator because we need someone to promote past history about Oakland Community College while doing community service projects around Oakland County. I am an Alumni of Oakland Community College and current student in cybersecurity, and would be delighted to be able to restore and promote the history of Oakland Community College especially since it has embarked over 55 years of serving our community in Oakland County. I will continue to be a student at Oakland Community College in getting the necessary credits and continuing education needed for my career endeavors.

Ariadna Morales-Rocha - Candidate for Student Gov Community Outreach Coordinator

My name is Ariadna and I would like to run for Outreach/communicator for the Student Government Organization. I have been part of Oakland Community College since the summer of 2020, I am currently a Political Science major and I am beyond grateful for being part of this amazing institution, being the reason why I would like to become part of the Student Government and share some of my experience with other students.

One of my core values is Inclusion, which is a quality all institutions must have, to make all students feel valued, and heard within the community. As an outreach/ communicator I would ensure every single student's voice is heard and taken into account in the institution's decisions and initiatives. I am looking forward to the elections and hoping I get the opportunity to exercise this role within the student community.

Caleb Keilen - Candidate for Student Gov Secretary @ Orchard Ridge

My name is Caleb Keilen, and I am currently a freshman here at Oakland Community College. I plan to transfer to Michigan State University to pursue a degree in Supply Chain Management at MSU’s Broad School of Business. I enjoy sports, reading, and spending time with my family and friends. I graduated high school from Mother of Divine Grace School, which is an online distance learning school based in Ojai, California. Because I attended high school online, I am familiar with distance learning like we have been doing here at OCC for about a year now. I am hopeful, just as everyone else is, that everything will be back to normal soon!

I believe communities need strong and capable leaders. I am running for Secretary of the Orchard Ridge campus because I can fulfill that need for the OCC community. In high school, I was the secretary for my school’s National Honor Society chapter. The duties for this position at OCC are nearly identical to the ones I had in my NHS chapter. I was responsible for taking minutes (notes) at the meetings and emailing the members with meeting reminders and meeting recaps. Like I mentioned previously, I am also familiar with working with others remotely. I am an organized, punctual person, and I believe these qualities coupled with my prior experience as a secretary makes me a well-qualified candidate for this position. If elected Secretary of the Orchard Ridge campus, please know it will not be a responsibility that I will take lightly. It will not just be some extracurricular activity that I passively participate in; it will be a high priority commitment for me. So, other than trying to fulfill the need for strong and capable leadership here at OCC, I am running because it is an opportunity to serve others and the community. Please give me that opportunity by giving me your vote. I will be a strong, committed, and capable leader that will represent OCC with integrity. Thank you for reading and for your consideration!

Jeremy Janke - Candidate for Student Gov President

My name is Jeremy Joshua Janke, Jr. I have been attending OCC since the winter of 2020. Of course, that was a very difficult time to be a student, and as we found out, the pandemic would change our ways of life. I was able to maintain a 4.0 average in my classes, and was inducted into the Alpha Omicron Xi chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa honor society. Within the organization I have found a passion for student life, especially the path of non-traditional students and those seeking transfer, since I myself am older than the normal student. I plan to finish my degree in Cinematic Arts and use it to continue my education moving forward. My plan upon entering into the Student Government is to re-establish the connection between the services offered by OCC and the student population.

I know that the virtual schooling has been tough on most students, but somehow, we have found a way to persevere. My goal entering into the upcoming semesters is to transition the SG back into being a more hands on organization, especially in regards to community service. My goal is to use all the resources we have to help drive awareness of the Phi Theta Kappa organization, and the SG, into the student population. I know that our campuses are full of motivated and high-achieving individuals, and if given the chance to lead some of these individuals, I know I can usher OCC into the next phase, which will hopefully be less virtual and more hands on. Together we made it through the pandemic, and together we will make it out the other side. Thank you for your consideration.

Allen R. Ford - Candidate for Student Gov President

My name is Allen R. Ford and I’m 31 years old. I am running for Student Government President because I have a powerful voice with a prolific story to tell. At 15 years-old and in the 10th grade, I dropped out of high school. I disappointed a lot of people and got involved in the wrong things; suddenly my life was in shambles. I faced life and death situations, and even found myself fighting issues in the court of law. At 19, I finally decided to pull myself out of the pit of self-destruction and go back to school to obtain my G.E.D. Finally with some form of a high school equivalent I was afforded the opportunity to be an attendant at a local gas station. From there I worked hard and diligently up the racks until I made General Manager. As a general manager I was responsible for all of the day-to-day operations, from people development, to leading a team of more than 50 team members, training, coaching, merchandising, sales, profits and losses, recruitment, revenue, and so much more. That real world business experience allowed me to transition into banking, and as a lower-level teller I was a stellar employee and eventually I worked my way up to VP of Operations. I’ve been blessed with many honors, and awards throughout my business career. I’ve held onto my story and used my voice coupled with the power of belief to transcend the odds. I am an anomaly I was destined for failure but through the power of self-belief I’ve been able to cross over many barriers. I’ve been President of the Chambers of Commerce OJC for Farmington Hills, and I am also an alumnus of the elite Leadership Academy sponsored by the Detroit Economic Growth Board. Today, I have an amazing lucrative career in the banking and mortgage industry. I’ve beat the odds and proved that with a great attitude, and an efficient work ethic any dream can be made manifested. Although, I have found great success it means nothing if I’m not conquering all of my dreams. For me I’ve always dreamed of going back to school to have that experience that desperately longed for, and now I’m living my dream. I’m running for student government President because I am an example of what transformation looks like. We all are on the journey of transformation and through academics all things are possible. I’m running for President; as a business executive who brings a lot of knowledge, but also as a peer who can help anyone to find the power of belief and with that, I believe that You and I can “Transform the World”. My name is Allen R. Ford, and I’m running for Student Government President and my campaign is built on belief and I believe that we will “Transform the World”.
