Our hearts are so full! 💙🧡

Last night, the HCOP family came together to celebrate our Auburn student scholarship recipients and the generous donors who make their awards possible. It was a joy to watch students meet the people who support them year after year.

For many of our students, scholarships are what make a pharmacy education possible. To our alumni and donors: thank you for investing in the next generation of pharmacists and scientists. You mean more to us than we can say.

Committed to caring for their communities, HCOP students deployed to more than 90 practice sites throughout Alabama and parts of Florida and Georgia for their Health and Wellness Introductory Pharmacy Practice Experience!

140 students from the Class of 2029 spent a week in community pharmacies and clinics, promoting health and wellness to patients through immunizations and health screenings.

In total, students recommended 8,280 vaccines and administered 6,559 vaccines, demonstrating a substantial impact on patient care and preventive health services. Vaccines included influenza, COVID-19, pneumococcal diseases, tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis and respiratory syncytial virus.

Students also performed 1,724 blood pressure screenings, 1,416 diabetes screenings and provided health education for several disease states.

It was a big weekend for HCOP in Salt Lake City!

Students and faculty showcased their meaningful work and brought home some hardware from the American College of Clinical Pharmacy Annual Meeting!

🟠 Dr. Heather Whitley graduated from the Professional Development Leadership Program
🔵 Dr. Miranda Andrus was recognized for five years as Co-Director of the Professional Development Leadership Program
🟠 Retired Professor Dr. Lea Eiland was inducted as an ACCP Fellow
🔵 Dr. Ashley Hawthorne won the Global Health PRN Mentor Without Borders Award
🟠 P3 Asia Ward won the Global Health PRN Think Globally Award
🔵 P3 Addison Duet and P4 Rebecca McElroy received Ambulatory Care PRN Student Travel Awards

For AU Employee Pharmacy Technician Eli Walker, he sees his work as patient-focused. He genuinely cares about patients and strives to advocate for patients and build relationships with everyone who comes to the AU Employee Pharmacy.
