COSAM AEIO COSAM ODMA will continue to focus on current programs as well as implement new ideas that center on the academic needs of current and future students.

The Office of Diversity & Multicultural Affairs (ODMA) within the College of Sciences and Mathematics (COSAM) believes that innovation results from individuals of different race/ethnicity, gender, disability status, nationality, religious affiliation, sexual orientation and socioeconomic backgrounds working together to solve problems. It is only by stepping out of our comfort zone that we are able

to better understand the skills we each embody and utilize our shared experiences to voice unique perspectives in STEM. COSAM is committed to inclusiveness and providing opportunities that will assist our students, faculty, and staff in having a global impact on the STEM community. We aim to fulfill our mission of cultivating a diverse STEM workforce by attracting, developing, and retaining the best and brightest individuals from all backgrounds.

This morning we had such an amazing experience getting to be a part of EmpowHER, which is a mini-conference 8th-10th grade girls about interest in the field of STEM. Our ambassadors shared about their academic journeys, their decision to choose Auburn, and their future career paths. We shared about the plethora of opportunities and careers that one can chose to be involved in and answered questions the girls had about pursuing a higher education in STEM. We also constructed our own lava lamps using science and discussed the chemical reaction behind the project! 🧪👩‍🔬

Come enjoy an exciting movie night with the AEIO Ambassadors as we see Interstellar, a film that transports us to space, black holes, and the secrets of the cosmos.🚀 In addition to seeing the characters push the frontiers of science and technology, we'll be decorating cookies. 🍪 This event will begin at 5:30 PM on October 23rd, and end at 7 PM! Join us to learn more about fun events and the mission of the AEIO Ambassadors!

On Monday, March 11, we hosted several admitted students for our COSAM Seal the Deal event! Students were able to interact with COSAM faculty and staff, and learn about all the resources available to them here at Auburn. We look forward to having these students officially join the COSAM family this fall!

Applications are now open to become a COSAM OIED Ambassador!! COSAM OIED Ambassadors seek to bring awareness to OIED services and programs; encourage interest in STEM fields in students from all backgrounds in grades K-12; and promote an inclusive environment for all students through monthly programming and events. The Ambassadors also function as liaisons, collaborators, and representatives of OIED and the diverse COSAM student populace. Applications close on March 24, 2024! Link on our story 👆
